Hello,

there are lot of players online in the game Guild Wars Game of the Year Edition?

There are other Guild Wars games there are no month cost and are with lot of MMO players?

Still a large amount of players in game, game of the year edition is just a version of the original prophecies campaign with some items you can use, they aren't great though so if you can get prophecies cheaper go with that.

Either way you will be playing the core campaign and there's a lot of PvE players, PvP is slowing down. Prophecies is the first campaign, factions the second, nightfall the third and eye of the north is the official expansion for all of them.

Your priority after prophecies would be eye of the north (all campaigns work with it) so you can unlock things for guild wars 2.

The third campaign nightfall has no unlocks for guild wars 2 but does have a lot of features to assist you in PvE. Factions has 2 new classes and battleground PvP (still active and somewhat beginner friendly).

EDIT: No monthly fee for any of the guild wars titles at all, same goes for guild wars 2 when it's released, no monthly.

Just bought trilogy, so based on your info I guess the correct order to approach Guild Wars would be: Start prophecies and finish it -> Buy eye of the north -> Finish Factions -> Finish Nightfall --> do PvP and sidequests..

Is this the "correct order"?
Thanks

Well its best to start with prophecies, once you have developed your character to your likings and is lvl 20, it doesnt really matter in what kind of order you play the game, but start with finishing the story of prophecies first.

This late in the game I would finish nightfall before factions, you get your heroes from nightfall and many of the games best skills, you will steamroll factions this way (you would anyway) and be done in no time.

My personal route for getting things done is...

Start in Prophecies for the story and adventure from there.

Once you get to Lion's Arch, do the quest Sunspears In Kryta to get to Kamadan.

When you get to Kamadan, do the quests (starting in Sun Docks) that are necessary to get to Consolate Docks (ending with The Time is Nigh) (or... get a ferry to Consulate Docks) where you can get max armor and the quest to get Olias, All For One and One for Justice (need Prophecies for it) and the quest to get Zenmai, Chasing Zenmai (need Factions for it).

Hopefully at or around this point you are at least level 10 and you can get M.O.X. (need all 3 campaigns for it) outside Lion's Arch.

Then get to Eye of the North by doing the quest What Lies Beneath in Lion's Arch (must have Eye of the North and be level 10).

You will end up with the following heroes...

Zenmai - Assassin (Nightfall and Factions required)
Olias - Necromancer (Nightfall and Prophecies required)
Ogden Stonehealer - Monk (Eye of the North required)
Gwen - Mesmer (Eye of the North required)
Vekk - Elementalist (Eye of the North required)
M.O.X. - Dervish (all 3 campaigns required)
Koss - Warrior (Nightfall required)
Dunkoro - Monk (Nightfall required)
Melonni - Dervish (Nightfall required)

There are other ways to go about it, but I feel this gives you a good choice of heroes to start with.

People tend to congregate in American districts for Zaishen quests, but they go back to their own districts for their other businesses.

It doesn't really matter in which order you play, since none of the campaigns requires you to play another (except EotN, but it's an expansion). Lore-wise the order is: Prophecies -> Factions -> Nightfall -> EotN.

I agree with this. Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall all have overlapping timelines so it doesn't matter at all which one you do first. You can even alternate at will between all 3 with the same character if you like. It's brilliant that GW restricts you to level 20 because there is tons and tons of content at the appropriate level for a maxed-out character.

There's an okay number of people online but very few compared to when the game was new. There used to be over 10 districts for many cities and outposts, and on holidays there would be over 100. Nowadays it's rare that you see 2 districts anywhere but capital cities. It used to be effortless to get a party of 8 players but now it's pretty much mandatory to bring NPC heroes.

Good to know that people still play since I saw the price drop for the trio to 30 bucks. I was afraid this meant that it was basically dead now.

Question is when GW 2 comes out will GW 1 servers still be supported? Meaning will I still be able to jump on and play. I know when GW 2 comes out I expect the amount of people to drop by half but I hope they still allow people on GW 1 to keep playing.

GW1 will be up as long as enough people play, since they have a separate support.
It's like with Lineage I and II. Both are still on.

I don't know how many people is that, but considering there are games in Steam over 20 years with more than 1000 players, I don't think they will close in at least 5 or 6 years.

Many people try the first game when they enjoy the second, so even players that started with GW2 may try GW1 too.
That and digital distribution like Steam and deals that reduce the price once in a while ensure they'll last some time.

I would start off with a prophecies char as well tbh, that way they can enjoy pre-searing then move on to the main land then chapter by chapter.
That way they can enjoy the story line a lot better.

That's what i would do if i was a first time player and had all chapters anyway.

As for mike091983 yes gw will still be going.
Gail grey has already said, there not dropping support for it or the servers any time soon.

Arenanet has gone on the record to say that they will continue to support GW when GW2 comes out. They said they designed the game from the ground up to be very efficient, so it costs them very little money to keep the servers running.
