installing Far cry 2 went off without a hitch. But as soon as i went to play the game i get an error saying Service pack 1 Is HIGHLY Recomended I'm running with Windows 7 Home 64 Bit edition.
less then a half hour into game play the game randomly crashed. No error message no nothing...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All Service Pack 1 for Win 7 is is a collection of all the regular Updates MS has released from the start. You do have all the weekly updates, right?
Crashing could be related to a lot of other things, like heat or drivers not being updated.

I had the same problem with FC2 and Windows 7, what I did was set the exe to Compatibility Mode for Vista Service Pack 2 and the message went away.
The problem is FC2 thinks you are running Vista without a service pack and not Windows 7; setting Windows 7 to run it in Compatibility Mode "resolves" the issue.

Well the compatibility mode suggestion was for curing the Service Pack 1 part of the problem, the crashing part is another story.
I have had games crash at random on occasion, how frequently does this game crash on you? Is it every time you run it, and around the same amount of running time every time?
