I like games like this, Morrowind, oblivion, fallout, just cause2, ect, but I'm put off by how buggy it is. How bad is the glitches/bugs?
I don't mind that securom is on it.. but...

After 40 hours of play, the only significant bug I've run into is that the game doesn't work so well with 3D Vision.

Ahhh - now I understand. The reviewers for Ego Draconis wrote that quite awhile back. Since then, the game has switched to a new publisher and has had a boatload of updates. You might check the newer reviews referenced on GameRankings (http://www.gamerankings.com/pc/998546-divinity-ii-the-dragon-knight-saga/index.html).

I'll post my own review here.

Divinity 2: Dragon Knight saga is a great game, even more so if you want a challenge -- the hardest difficulty is most assuredly hard (provided you don't read up online whats the most "efficient" character build)

I only got 3/4s of the way through it though because New Vegas got released and well.. New vegas!! I haven't experienced 1 game-breaking bug. At most what annoyed me was that the FPS was limited to 30fps, but they released a patch/hotfix that removed that limitation.

I just bought this today myself.(was hoping for a better than 33% discount, was planning to pay the higher price tomorow if it never dipped)

I played through the entire base game without hitting any bugs what so ever.Framerate was fine. I enjoyed the entire playthrough for Div 2 ego drac.

The steam pack offers a couple exclusive armor sets and its avaliable today at the price the x-pack alone would cost me.(Plus my copy of div 2 is retail,so I can give it away now)

Why is everyone saying 33% off? It's telling me 50%
I know 33 if you own the old game, but do you miss out on the half off if you own the previous one? That sucks.

Zloth

It has been 33% off for the entire holiday sale. The 50% off is a one day thing.

Very good game. You will be happy with it as a RPG. In the lines of a Gothic 2 meets Witcher. The game doesn't crash for me. It took me a while to find good graphics settings, where it didn't lag loading textures and the like. I have a constant locked 40 fps (dual core/8800 GT). This game is not what I consider buggy, perhaps prior to the enhanced add-on.

The original game when launched was atrocious. I played the demo and it was crap. Performance was especially crap. They've gone back and fixed just about everything in this version plus included the expansion. I downloaded the improved demo today and it was a lot better than the original I had tried. I'd say it's worth $20. It plays a lot like an mmorpg.

Err... no, they recommend 13gb of free space to run the game without running out of address space. 8gb is the size of the game.

This game is well worth it IMO. The original game was never even that buggy. Especially after a few patches it was basically free of major issues. Sad how its reputation stays with it even with its re-release. The opinions of a bunch of highschool kids is not going to change the truth. The truth is this game is one of the better RPGS released in recent years.

RavN - I don't know, having most of the reviews come out right at release certainly encourages game companies and publishers to get the things DONE before they release. Still, the reviewers really should have more second looks to reward companies for fixing up their messes. (Heck, Egosoft has been fixing up X3: Terran Conflict for years now.)

Vasir - yeah, the review is right here in this forum.

+1 to that even if I'm far to have finish the first game so even less the saga. But from what I played and if everything end be as good it will be in my top favorites RPG of all time.

You can edit a preference file to change it in the original game and in DSK it's one of the in game options, check advanced options for video, then at top bottom you can set this value.

But quote many users without a top end configuration end put it back to 30 after many time lost in trying other setting.

Also quote this in game DKS video setup includes some core duo special setup.

Its true that the game was initially released in less than ideal circumstances. I still think that the re-released version is a good way to make up for putting out an unfinished product. The issue is that people are using release reviews for ego draconis to judge the dragon night saga. These two products are not the same! Ego draconis at launch was moderately buggy but patched into an only slightly buggy state. Dragon night saga was never buggy or glitchy and is a very much a complete product.

This is similar to how The Witcher was patched up and re-released as an expanded edition. I am not suggesting that developers release broken products but if they fix the games than they deserve a fair opinion.

Except that would take effort and time from people who are simply shills with very little talent in the first place. AKA never going to happen.

So called professional game reviews are garbage anyway with or without some huge publisher pumping millions into marketing, oops, I mean reviews.

I trusted my instinct with this one and well spend 40e i say! Its very good rpg and highly underrated. Its so sad that some people are thinking this is like the original game and expansion on the same. Well they are wrong!

Pros: no hand helding makes completing quests rewarding but this can also be thought con for some people, Skill tree is great and theres almost none useless skills but maybe two or three, Good looking armour's and weapons, voice acting was very good at least i liked it A LOT, good looking game with optimised engine so don't freak out about gamebryo, almost forgot very big pro and that is exellent music.

Cons: Game is hard for first time even at normal difficulty, theres no armour which makes your char look like mage and theres no spears or staffs or other two handed weapons execpt bow,two h. sword so it looks weird when playing mage with two h. sword on your back, some minor stuttering because the engine which happens occasionally or capping framerate too high, dragon form doesn't feel good and its little akward and i would prefer that char could transform like halfdragon with wings or something, game lacks epicness and by that i mean some things which happens are so lame and makes game feel like very low budget game but there isin't many of those times.

Though there is cons they are just minor stuff and most of them are probably just annoying me personally. I still consider this game 7.8 which is good score by my standards coz i'm very demanding gamer. I would recommed this game to anyone who digs rpg's.

This is one of thee best RPG's ever made. Right there with Witcher 2 and Gothic 2 Night of Zee Raven. With a bit of Fable LC and Oblivion mixed in. Do yourself a favor if you like any of the above it's easily in their league. As good as this is, now I can't wait for their next RPG, which I predict by the time that comes out it will have Witcher like anticipation and Larain will get full retail sales from a lot more gamers. If they can hang in there, their next game will have a huge payout for them. Too bad how this game was first released, etc. They lost a ton of potential prospective buyers and w.o.m. is the only thing that can make them some $$ now at 1/2 off.

Wait... no hand holding? What do you call those glowing keys? Or the markers above people's heads to indicate who has a quest and who doesn't? Still, there's little compared to a lot of modern games, which either point you directly to the spot or, in the really linear games, make it impossible to go anywhere else.

Nor do I, though I wouldn't mind if Blizzard decided to make Diablo 3 play like this. Especially since the two series' started as essentially the same vein of dungeon-crawling action-RPGs.

Still, the handholding is quite reduced compared to most RPG. It still leaves you thinking about riddles, puzzles and other challenges.

IMO, this game simply isn't worth your time. You're better off playing a stellar, older RPG you missed like KoTOR1, Jade Empire, Morrowind, or Diablo 2. Even today I would say Diablo 2 online is worthy entertainment. I guess if you've played every RPG and are starving for more then this is OK, but it honestly feels like a single player World of Warcraft wannabe. It also reminds of games like the Gothic series or The Witcher where some aspects are worthy attempts, but ultimately they are only for the die hard RPG fan that can overlook shortcomings in comparison to mainstream games like Mass Effect 1/2, Elder Scrolls 3/4, or Dragon Age: Origins. Just my opinion.

That interesting because every single game you mention and esp. WOW none of them have the quality action combat in them like this.

Yeah you endorsing it as a Witcher/Gothic type game is fair, you not liking those games helps others understand where you are coming from. Many other people love those games.

its not very open like the games you mentioned... its one of those games that give you an illusion of openess for a while, but after a couple of hours its odvious that its linear with a bunch of mediocre side quests throwed in. Havent played the expansion yet, still. I really need to finish the original and movie to that. Apparently its 10 more awesome .. but whatever.

Are there puzzles in this game? If so are there a lot? They just aren't appealing to me.

are quests easy enough to follow? The one part of Oblivion and DAO I really liked were the quest mechanics. It was always easy to get back on track if you had not picked up the game in a while.

Low on puzzles, easy enough to get back on a course if you go off on a tangent. But not complete hand-holding. IMO it's a fair mix overall of not being too lopsided one way. IMO this is a very well designed game.

Imho, this is an awesome game.

About the performance, I get about 80-100 FPS with maxed settings apart from having Shadow Timeslice enabled. Disabling Shadow Timeslice brings down the FPS to around 40. Still quite playable though nonetheless.
Good graphics, nice music and you attack manually!

As for glitches, what glitches? Seriously, I haven't run into any at all.
This game does not have the bad texture glitches like Gothic 4 does :P

Would you rather pay $90 for a game that only lasts about 7 hours (which seems to be what most new games are like these days)?
Or pay $40 for a game that lasts more than 40 hours?!

Divinity II is well worth the full price.

Your choice ;)

Edit: Heck, even the demo of Divinity II lasts about as long as the average full game!

Bugs?!

I've spent some 30+ hours with it so far, and it's been completely clean as a whistle. No crashes, no glitches, no broken quests. That's certainly more than I can say for most of the other RPGs I've played.

Overall, I've found it to be a pretty great game. In terms of immersion and atmosphere, it doesn't scale the heights of Dragon Age, Witcher or Fallout 3 for me, but it does a very good job in many respects. If you like classic RPGS with dungeons, loot, magic, and beautiful crazy-looking towers and all that stuff, you can't really go wrong with this.
