I have done all the updates and checks because NWN2 gives me a "Game currently unavailable" message.I don't have McAffee. I have reloaded the game, updated my video drivers, updated DirectX (although people keep saying DX9 is the right one I have Windows7 and DX11 seems to be the right one for W7). Upon validating steam files it says "1 files failed to validate and will be reacquired." but nothing else happens. There is a "close" button on the screen to close that text-box but nothing to prompt a re-acquizition of the file nor further instructions. I don't know if this is the problem preventing the game from being available but it is the only thing that is obviously wrong and isn't self correcting. What do I do?

Disable whatever AV software you have or add the game to its exception list. As far as I know it's not just McAffee.

You can also check if nwn2.exe exists in your install directory and isn't blocked by anything. Try launching it manually maybe.

The file itself will download as soon as the verification ends, so if it's small, it's easy to miss Steam grabbing it. Do you have ANY anti-virus software?

I have nothing in quarantine. The nwn2.exe file is in the Programs>Steam>steamapps>common>neverwinter nights 2 folder. Steam does not seem to be grabbing the missing file because I have since rebooted and checked again and came up with the same "failed validation" message

Where is Steam installed? Is NWN2.exe missing?

Have you tried launching it manually? Just double-clik that nwn2.exe file and tell us what happens.
