Hey Joshyy,

I was just wondering if you could give us the option to just let the soundtrack continue playing as we start a new game when we get a game over. The music was a big influence in purchasing the game. I am not the greatest at getting very far in Arcadia before getting a game over and it is kind of annoying only hearing the first 2 minutes of the soundtrack 20 times in a row. If it is possible that would be great. Otherwise, great game. I look forward to seeing how it develops.

I'm adding the option on game over, to start playing again, the music will continue if you don't go to the menu.

The song is "Surface" by DimRain47.

You'll find it here http://bit.ly/8N40KA < Shortened because Steam Forums hates the website url.

Well the joystick works, sort of. I can move the player, but aiming the ship gets messed up and the ship gets stuck pointing in a direction. The aimer gets off the screen. There needs to be a way to prevent the aimer from going out of bounds.

I still think it would be better to have a robotron type setup with the joystick that when you aim you shoot in the direction you aim.

If I hit either "X" or "Esc" it just goes back to the menu either way.

then hit Enter/Return, and you will continue playing (from the beginning of course).

Well the music starts over even if you don't go to the menu. However, I personally think this is awesome, because I can calculate my points by listening the song. For example when it ends, I'm at ~130k at Chaotic (I also have several other spots). So I wouldn't like if the music wouldn't stop when I restart, but having an option for it wouldn't hurt I guess.

that does seem to work :)

It does still start the track over, but that's okay :)

I saw someone mention turning off the music and playing your own to enhance the experience with one's own music. What is the console command to do so?

Use ACT to mute the volume, and play your own music from whatever media player you like.

Hello guys, First of all great simple game its a good blast!

I Took the time to try the game on some less than stellar hardware and found that it works great on these systems also maybe the Min Requirement on the Steam Store page could be adjusted?

Dell Latitude D600

CPU: Intel Pentium M 735 1.7GHZ (Single Core 2mb l2 cache 400FSB)
Graphics: ATi Radeon Mobility 9000 32MB Dedicated
Memory: 1.5GB DDR1

Hi-Grade CT1

CPU Intel Pentium M 760 2.0GHZ (Single Core 2mb l2 cache 533FSB)
Graphics: Intel GMA 900 (128MB Shared)
Memory: 2GB DDR2

Both ran at there max resolutions and didn't budge from 60FPS No matter how hot the action got (Dell: 1400x1050 Hi-Grade: 1280x768)

They will be in the game's main menu if you have Updates set to automatic in steam. The older releases did not have them in place.

Why no Arcadia in RU region?

That is an interesting question. You may be the first person to report this. I'll forward this on to Joshyy so he can sort it out with Steam and get you an answer.

You can get to them by right clicking the game in steam Game Library, view Store Page, Global Gameplay Stats, Global Leaderboards tab.

We might tackle a more elegant solution in the future.

If you've your steam login info in your browser, this is faster :P

No need, it's available in the game.
Just rename "dat02.arc" to .ogg and then convert it to mp3 :)

Having just gone on a long trip I found myself with some time to kill. It would seem that every one of my games worked in offline mode except for the one I actually wanted to play; Arcadia! I'm wondering. Is that a Steam choice? or do you have a say in that? Arcadia's a great game to kill time, doesn't kill my battery (laptop) very fast, but it's also the game I want to play the most when I'm on a trip, however I cannot.

Is there any way I could play this offline? Or do I need to just settle for something else? Was it your call or Steam's?

Saijin_Naib

For a game to work offline, it needs to be completely updated. I've also found that it helps if you've launched the game right before you set it to offline mode. I believe there is a 1 week authentication token given to each game for offline use. If the game was not authenticated, it can't work offline. It works fine offline here, but I launched it before I went offline.

Oh, ok thanks. I thought that it was another issue because, my other games are all in my common folder and Arcadia is installed in my username folder. This usually means that there's something different with the way things work for that game. I'll go ahead and try that right now. If that's the case, I'm sorry I didn't figure that out myself.

EDIT: Sorry guys. Yeah, it's working fine.

No problem Skye.
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=3160-AGCB-2555

Have a read there. They explicitly mention having to launch it at least once to authenticate it.

Now as for the One Week authentication limit, I've no Valve confirmation. However, this has been bandied about on the forums and other places and it SEEMS true, but don't take that as an official thing.

To be clear, you need to have launched it at least once, and have Steam set to remember your account credentials.

For extra assurance, you should launch it at least once the day you go offline.

It's not my choice, I have no say in it. All games purchased on Steam have the ability to run offline.

This. Steams offline mode is really.. for lack of a better work.. buggy. I could have all my games updated, and when I try to set it onto offline mode when I have no connection, it just fails.

Saijin has pretty much covered how to get it working. He's making me obselete :P

:) Appreciate the input. Yeah I had done all that, I suppose this falls under the "buggy" definition given earlier. Thanks guys for the patience with my noobish question, and for the stellar game!

Could you drop requiring Administrator privileges when starting your game. No other game requires this, and it's a bit silly if not worrisome that I need to elevate my privileges to administrator account to play Arcadia...

Thanks for your reply and time!

It is not Arcadia, but the game is starting the installscript every time it launches.

Hmm, it kind of flows naturally to ask why does it do that?

Something is messed up haha. I've tried fixing the installscript manually here, but it gets replaced instantly by the "proper" version so that won't work.

I'll have to forward this on to Joshyy.

Apologies guys,
I've been overseas for 2 weeks, a needed holiday. I've already put through the changes, they should be immediate. I just disabled the forcing of the "proper" installscript.

Are you still developing for this game? Is it dead? Alive? Abandoned? Will there be another update?

At the moment, it's on hold. Life has gotten too busy, and I cannot maintain it at present.

There will be a final update, that adds in multiplayer, many performance increases and better control systems. When however, I'm not really sure.

I'm going to create a quick thread in regards to this.
