Steam DCUO

Just a quick question to anyone who might know.

Exactly how big is this game going to be while it DL's through steam.
Will they compress the game before DL'ing or am I going to have to Get the disc version so I dont have to spend 4 or 5 hours waiting for it to DL.
I mean 30gb's. woah

I dont know how steam deal with the big games. i.e. Empire Total War being 16.1gb, so I bought the disc version. saves having to wait for 16gb.

Will I have to DL all 30gb's or will steam make the instal files smaller. say 15 or 10gb's. ??

The Steam Preload is around 14GB. The 30GB estimate in the minimum reqs isn´t a realistic value. Atleast not for the release. maybe one year after with many content patches.

+ There will be a releaseday Patch. I don´t know how big but even box owners have to download it.

Hey thx for reply. I guess that isnt so bad, I can DL that.

And a patch on release day might be annoying for some, but its a good thing, knowing that they will be trying hard to fix everything ASAP :)

Never really been into SOE games, PotBS was about the only one I kinda liked. Loved the Pirate scene :P but this looks great. Cant wait :P

the 30gb is how much free space you should have before install because games use more space on the original install moving stuff into place as well as they don't want you to get your HDD to 100% cause remember when a HDD fills to over 80% full your computer slows down somewhat so game companys always tell you more than technically is needed. it also helps to have that free for any ammount of future patches. you notice i'm sure that they say its the minimum requirement not that thats the games size :)
