I'm loving it, and I'm not ashamed to say it. I haven't had this much fun since Dungeon Master on the Amiga back in, ooh, 1988?

Kinda reminds me of a (polished) Prototype, if anyone remembers that? But, geeze, much *better* than that game!

If you are having a blast on DCU, let me know - and let us know what character combo you are finding the best.

So far, I've got a magic flyer with laser-hands, a speedster fire dude with a huge two-handed hammer and an acrobatic nature-lover-martial-artist.

Having just compleated the G***d missions, I'm finding flight to be less useful than the other two for escaping when confined indoors. The five-or-so seconds of slow speed are a killer!

Awesome game.
Finally a mmo, where you can control your character.

Exactly! Real freedom of movement and arcade responses. I've blasted gorillas off of roofs and flown after them as they've hurtled to the ground! They can stuff their turn-based dice! (Whoever *they* are.)

This game is kinda like Star Wars Galaxies - *after* it turned to crap.

Or, ah, maybe not a great comparison. I mean in terms of interaction. Not in terms of anything else, like taking ALL MY ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ STUFF AWAY FROM ME AND SAYING 'OHH DONT WORRY WE ARE GOING TO MAKE THIS GAME MUCH BETTER THAN IT WAS BY REMOVING YOUR PETS AND WALKERS AND SINGING BOOGERS AND NERFING YOUR ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ GALAXY-WARPING ABILITIES, CUS THIS IS WHAT WE WANTED STAR WARS TO BE AAAALL ALONG!!' Uh, yeah...

People say this game is real time combat? Kinda like champions online? I want a more arcadish type of fighting game without buttons and cooldowns that you click with your mouse like wow... And not where you target one enemy and wack wack wack then next... Splash damage should be on every ability not just special ones.

I hate to go ahead and buy another MMO because even if the combat is amazing and everything, I havent seen any MMO that had a fluent story line. After about 10 levels all mmos seem to turn into a boring mindless grind fest.

I played Champions Online, City of Heros, Wow, Conan, Fallen Earth, Anarcy Online... and many others they all seem to loose lust after a few levels into the game. Wow seemed to keep my attention the longest, but now its just boring because it doesnt feel as involved as a 3rd person arcadish game would. I like to feel like my clicks are causing the attacks and blocks not a stupid button you push like keys 1-10 or with the mouse click over a button bar.

Prolly wait for a trial anycase

I agree completely, XtremeDogg, and have had the same experiences you have had.

you should definetly try this game. it is really fun, and i have also tried many online games. I have only played a day, so there is of course a risk i might change my mind later. But for now, my impression is that this is the best game i have ever played. i can write a long list why, but some of the things are that it looks good, there are huge options for character builds and it makes you feel like your there, being a hero hehe.

its a cool game :)

This game is pretty awesome. I'm going to hold off on buying it on PS3 for now and just play on PC. Might have to pick it up for ps3 though.

Why have it on both systems? I playe the PS3 beta for MANY days, and i can honestly say the mouse and keyboard combo KILLS the PS3 in everyway, it's faster and more accurate, and the graphics on a gamingrig is AMAZING. I was going to buy it for PS3 before i tried it on PC, and now i cant even think of going back on PS#, plus i ont think the PS3 community will live as long as the PC tbh.

The game sofar is the best MMO i ever touched.

I'm enjoying it so far. Doing missions alongside heroes and villains from the DC universe is pretty awesome. I thoroughly enjoyed the mission where my villain fought her way through Cyborg, Starfire, and Nightwing to get to Raven, then helped Trigon take over her mind. Just like being in the comic books!

The game isn't completely polished, of course. The chat system sucks and there's quite a few graphics clipping issues. I found a couple missions that were nigh impossible to complete due to slow respawns of required objectives, too. But that's standard new-MMO stuff, it'll get better.

I gotta ask, is it really dice-less? I have seen a few videos and it seems like it has a functioning and action system but I have also seen videos where it looks like he should miss something but still hits it, so is it truly diceless or it just looks real but still depends on dice rolls?

Hey guys, I'm still downloading, just bought it.

Can you guys, that already have the game and are playing, post any screenshots, system specs and framerates?

Thanks!

There are still crits and non-static damage numbers for abilities and weapon attacks. Basically, you can still get "lucky."

Although what you're talking about has nothing to do with a dice roll. The NPCs and PCs in the game just have large hit boxes so that melee doesn't become a nightmare, especially with lag.

Does it play anything like a hack and slash where you are able to dodge and be good enough at the combat where it actually makes a difference? Or is the RPG element and large hit boxes making the hack and slash just for show?

There's definitely dodging in the game, for whatever good it is though. I was watching some dude's video where he was dueling and he was just rolling all over the place when he got low on health until some health potion/drink/whatever became available and let himself get back to the fight

Everything in the game can be countered. For example, if that guy was rolling around away from me I could use my lung attack (the click hold attack that jumps toward the enemy) to stun him so I could finish him off. He can also counter my lung by simply holding down block (without rolling) causing me to be knocked down.

This game is very advanced for an MMO no power sets are overpowered or too weak. its all about player skill in DCUO.

This.

On the surface the games seems very basic, spam attack button, throw in some power moves and thats it.

But when you look deeper there is alot more to it, is the guy doing a combo on me? use block and it will stun him, if he is blocking use block break move to stun him, etc etc.

Going to take awhile to get to grips with the way it all works, but from what I can see (and I only just worked all this stuff out today) I fought a guy today who was lv12, and I was on a new guy only lv8, it took awhile but I managed to get the better of him as he just kept spamming his combo moves, so I kept blocking and stunning him so I can could some free hits on him.

As far as I can tell this stuff isnt that relevent in PVE so far, but is crucial in PvP.

Good stuff.
