I did look at the FAQ section of the SOE site before posting this.

I'm obviously missing out having to type everything, so I'm going to get a microphone for this game. Will an X360 one work for it? I've never used a MIC on the PC before and there are hundreds on AMAZON, so I'm really confused about what would be ok to get.

I'm guessing your mic is USB? Computers have USBs, too!!
You plug it into a USB port as you would on your Xbox...and presto! :D

Ok, cool. I guess things have moved on these days. The last time I tried it (EQII I think) there were compatability issues. Will go get a nice headset from Amazon. (The 360 one doesn't work since the soup incident, damnit!)

Will a headset that plugs into the MIC socket of the PC work just as well, or does it have to be a USB connection?

It'll um... work even more, yeah?

Ok, great. The jack ones are cheaper than the USB ones, so the wife will be happy. Well, less unhappy.

a USB headset tends to have it's own dedicated audio-chip, so it'll bypass whatever audio hardware you have in your PC. The prime reason I use a plugged Logitech headset, nothing beats the DACs on my Xonar D2X. No USB audio-chip can beat a near studio-quality audio card.
