The Multilayer Solution

Long ago in a galaxy far far away...

Star Wars Dark Forces community has been left behind to fend for themselves in its dark hour. Lucasarts and Microsoft have left behind a small group of gamers that still cling to their old games. Among these games is Jedi Knight Dark: Forces. The various upgrades in software with operating systems; and the lack of support from Lucasarts have made these games virtually unplayable. Yet with the support of the steam community a spark of life has occurred for the game. The steam platform made the game playable once more, and the small group of gamers again could play their favorite game. However the multiplayer feature was still broken and forced the small group of gamers to flee to the outer rims of the internet. In a desperate attempt to bring order and peace to the galaxy...

If you are one of these players there is a solution. There is still a group of players on mIRC. You will need to download mIRC here. http://www.mirc.com/
When you have that downloaded and installed you must go to file and select a server. Select Gamesurge and click random server. Then go to tools>Channel List and type in #jediknight. There you have it, you have successfully accessed what is left of the JK gaming community.

To connect to a server, you must use an IP address in the multiplayer options in Jedi Knight.
Here is a few helpful commands.
!addgame@IP Address

(Make sure you list any mods, maps and URL's so player can quickly install them. Otherwise they can't get in if you are using a mod or level they don't have.)

!removegame removes your game from the channel listings
!listgames displays in chat all the current games being played.

Once you have all this mastered, feel free to hop on their website. http://www.smsithlord.com/jk/ Here you will find all sorts of useful junk to download. The most important thing is the unofficial patch. http://www.jkhub.net/project/get.php?id=1974. Install this in your main JK folder. Be sure to make a backup of your other exe in case you don't like the new patch.
To install maps just up the new maps in the episode folder in you JK directory
And that is all.
Great thanks to sithlord for keeping the community together!
