Even noobs have chances. If you want to practice without ruining your stats, you can play on unranked servers.

Just remember, DO NOT USE HEAVY ARTILLERY VEHICLES!!!
Anyone who does, gets kicked.

Yea if you play as support never go heavy artillery, 1 is a complete max for an entire side let alone a player.

It may feel great with the idea that you can be in command of a vehicle that can rack up kills from relative saftey of your own back line. But the reality is that it comes at the price of of anti air for your side which falls under your job.

Just to give you some ideas
The worst sort of noobs fall under 2 type of artillery player.

1) The triple heavy arty noob! oh yes we have all witnessed this act of warcrime. They pummel the opposing team for 30seconds, Your entire team gets obliterated by Choppers which usally reduces Tanks players to tears! and then the enemy sends in a swift airstrike to show the arty Noob that you are not safe as heavy artillery!

2) The Arty noob that has anti air but wait! only to protect himself!
Yes nothing is worse seeing 1 or 2 heavy artillery on the back line surrounded by its only personal detail of AA!!! whilest everyone else on the map is getting WTFpwned and again reduces the rest of the team to tears!

Personally im more inclined to feel sorry for the triple arty noobs because they usually are just that, noobs with out a clue that need educating/helping.
But number 2 actually has some sense that he needs AA to counter air units, but his logic that if he only keep the AA around him self and letting enemy Air parade every where around the map is beyond me. Always keep AA support Tank players or generally defending the lines/area of importance. Generally if the Air players cant get past the front line, they cant get to the back either.

Thats enough of a rant on Noobs Lol you will be fine as long as you have a brain and are willing to learn! Everyone is a noob at some point, just showing the willingess to ask on the forums, shows your bright enough to handle this game!
This will help with some basics http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9iGMNiDxwc
TBH you dont have to do the graphics tweak but just follow the basic rules the person is showing!

G'luck soldier and see you on the battlefield!

You forgot

3) The Arty noob who has AA and repair tanks!
Every now and then an arty noob will realise he might even sustain some damage dispite his amazing ring of AA, so he takes repair tanks to repair his own units (And, accidentally, any friendly choppers that "happen" to fly too close). These players usually end up under a tank buster.

But yes, even the pros have been noobs at some point, and asking about these things never hurts. Just results in a large amount of advice which will only help you get better, and get more out of the game, as well as make it a more enjoyable experience for everyone.

P.S.
If you get Soviet Assault as well, know this: The regular campaign missions are mixed with soviet missions in the singleplayer campaign.
