The forum key is so you can register the game using your paradox account on the Paradox Forums (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CBMQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fforum.paradoxplaza.com%2Fforum%2F index.php&rct=j&q=paradox%20forums&ei=OAU_TcboMIH68Aa9ksXHCA&usg=AFQjCNE1uNqydFsdDA_q8jUzZ2ih3ZTBhg&sig2=-sVQ7nufmHExdano3_udaA&cad=rja). If you are forum member it will give you a little icon next to your user name indicating you own this particular game.

btw... i don't want to start a new thread for it, can you please update the system specs on the storepage. it says 500mb hd space while it actualy requires 1gb!

but it does NOT work...

we have a 5x5 key ... the forum will have a key with 6x4 letters..

what can we do now .. ? ;)

Yep, the forum expects a 6-pieces key, but the one we get from Steam is a 5x5 key.

Okay, I managed to register my game on the Paradox site.

Solution: The Steam key consists of 25 letters/numbers, the registration form expects 24. If you ignore the last letter/number, the key will register.

Not that it really matters, I'm sure, but when buying the game via D2D, you don't get a forum registration key code. Odd.

You don't get any code? Maybe it's called a cd-key or serial number there?

the code should be shown to you when you start the game... a little message should tell you about a cd key, which is actualy the forum key!

you should also be able to see this code in your steam games library when you right-click on magicka and then choose "view game cd key"

Nope and nope to both :) There is no "CD Key" associated with my copy of Majicka, only a "DLC" tab with the separately-installed Wizard Hat DLC on it.

Bear in mind btw that D2D simply sold me a pair of Steam activation codes; the game comes up in my account as:

Magicka Retail Digital
Magicka: Wizard Survival Kit - Retail

well at least you have the DLC... though to get support for magicka in the paradox forum you would need that code.

however, it's either a d2d problem (contact them!) and/or a problem with paradox!

to be perfectly honest, i don't like d2d, not a single bit, i have an account there (not that i ever wanted) but until now i haven't seen any good reason to buy something there. i prefer gg or steam...

I prefer Steam and that's all :) Only reason I bought it from D2D was that it was 20% off and it's a Steamworks game.

Kind of weird about the CD Key though. I'd say it's probably more a problem at Paradox's end, since all I got from D2D was a Steam code for the game and its DLC.

I'm pretty sure the forum code is simply your CD key (ie Steam activation code, but probably not the DLC code). Steam has the extra code thing, because otherwise steam store purchases wouldn't be able to see their cd key. Incidentally the D2D activation key is 5x5 just like the forum registration key. Haven't tried it myself... but, you should try it and see.

Paradox forums just want you to enter you game's key. The D2D key as far as I know, IS your game's key. That is why it gets you the game on steam, just like how the retail box key will get you the game on steam.

I doubt it. Those that bought it on Steam say they have a "CD Key" tab with a separate code in it, and also say they see a message when running the game referring to the forum. I have neither.

why don't you try if you can use the same code which you used to activate the game on steam as key for the forum? if it doesn't work then you know for sure... if it works, then congratulations and don't forget to add to the reputation from §W-. ;)
