The game isn't an action RPG with item progression. It's more of an arcade game, so, different genre. The wizard hat and such are just vanity items with no effect on the game. Besides, the DLC is given to everyone who buys the game before the end of the month.

Yah DLC as in Down-loadable Content...as in when you buy the game before Jan31st...Steam will download extra content being the hat, rod, sword, and spell into your game...Read more carefully please.
