View Full Version : checkpoints not saving

I've about had it with this. I have started 3 times from the very beginning, I get to the checkpoint (the stone pillar), I quit the game, but when I rejoin, it takes me all the way back to the very beginning.
This is very frustrating. How do I quit / rejoin so I can start where I left off??

You dont, the checkpoints are only for the current game, if you quit, you restart that level.
The game tells you this in the start :)

What is a level? How do I know I'm at the end of the level?

Wow, OK got to the end of the level. These are quite long, especially if you're not a gifted twitch gamer and die a lot.
This really reinforces the need for saves. Basically, when you start a level, you need to stay through the end or you have to start from the beginning of the level the next time you attempt to go through.
Let me give you an example of the last level I went through where this creates a problem for replayability:
On the 2nd level, there are many different swords. One you can find (dragonslayer) looks like it might really help against that snake boss, but if you find the special arcane sword (Sherlock Holmes achievement I beleive?) you need to drop the dragonslayer. In another game with saves, I could go back to that save and try the different sword, but in this game, I need to go all the way back to the beginning of the level, and worse, if complete the level, I don't think there is a way at all to go back unless you go all the way back to level 1.
This game needs saves.

I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to spend too much time deciding which item you want. It isn't an item centric game. It's more like finding a pipe in Battletoads or something (only game I could think of)
