I can't for the life of me figure out the middle symbol in the spell book to finish the casting:mad::confused:
The symbol shows 'Steam'. Try to figure out how to make that using the regular elements.

The middle icon is steam, which is fire + water or water + fire

ya but you have to do it in the right order. Say you cast a fire + Earth + Steam if you try to use water then fire for steam the water will combine with the first fire and not create the correct order to get the spell.

That's much more awesome if you're under a bubble shield.

Don't tell him. Let him blow himself up a few times. :) That's the part of this game that makes it so fun.

Yeah right, like 1 meteor shower holds up a bubble shield, let alone 4.
Expect to die :P, even if all 4 of you are channeling it.

You can "pump" power into a shield by pressing space bar, can also have two smaller shields with-in a larger one and the personal shield on at the same time, good times.

So if the gray element (spell) is steam, why do I cast Rain with Water + Shield instead of Water + Steam?

The spell rain is qqf (water+steam) and space bar. Water+shield is a rain barrier, which works functionally differently.
Meteor is fdfqdf (fire earth fire water earth fire) space bar.
Incidentally, steam and ice are the two most powerful elements in the game.

Ahh thanks, makes sense now. So all spells you can switch through with the mousewheel are cast by the spacebar?

Yes. If it's a specialty spell, E.G. Rain, Grease, Meteor, then it is cast using Spacebar. It is also reliant on the pattern.
Heal+electrical (resurrect) works, but electrical+heal will just kinda derp around until you cast it on something with right click, shift right, middle mouse, etc.
Incidentally, qqqqe (4x water+shield) is a ridiculous pushback barrier. Try it sometimes :D
