Does anyone else have trouble joining a server?
Some of them work, but most of the servers i try to join just give me the "connecting" screen for a few seconds, then disappear leaving me at the server screen.

Have the same issue with some servers, but played now several hours on a server without connection issues. Just had two crashes to desktop.

I have an even more fun situation. I hit "join" and the game hangs. And then I have to force-quit it. Yaaay~

I can confirm the endless "Connecting . . ." screen on joining server. This is after the latest patch as well. It seems fun enough in single player, but I would love to play coop as well. Hope this gets fixed in the next patch. I just spent all night debugging some of my own code, so I know how painful it can be to do this stuff under tight time constraints.

Worse still, I can't even force-quit the game, and am frozen at the "Online Play" screen, unable to escape in any way, forcing me to flip the power switch on my PC to reboot. Whilst frozen, I can continue using push-to talk on my keyboard to inform my friends in Ventrillo of what's happening, I can hear them respond as normal, and I can alt-enter and hear windows sounds as I thrash helplessly at escape key combinations that should normally kill the program, open task manager to terminate the process, or do something else useful.
XP 32-bit
AMD X2 5600+
4 GB RAM
GeForce GT 260
Out of 6 attempts, 4 forced me to power down my PC, 1 allowed me to play flawlessly for 45 minutes with a friend, and once -inexplicably- I was able to escape the lock-up at the Online Play screen when connecting using Control-Alt Delete.
I'm extremely disappointed with the instability of the game, as I only bought it for the online play with friends, and that's the one thing I cannot do. It would be bad enough to have constant crashes to desktop, but locking my entire system up in a fatal time-out and forcing a cold shut-down on network game connection failure is just plain demoralizing. It's also all the worse because the one uninterrupted session I played with a friend was really, really fun!

Forcing you to turn your PC off?
As far as I know ESC escapes any stuck menu's for connecting but if not just alt + ctrl + delete out and end the task?
Whats stopping you from doing that cause I can do it just fine, maybe it's your hardware moreso then the game.

Hopefully the majority of these problems will be fixed in tonights fix.
Will post explanation in another thread soon. It's really silly.

zerrok, as I explained, Control + Alt + Delete (as well as ANY other key combination) does nothing, and no task manager appears. I am stuck frozen at the "Online Play" screen, looking at the list of servers and the JOIN button which I just clicked. I agree that powering down the PC is a ridiculous 'fix', but the only apparent alternative is trying to use the "Online Ply" screen with frozen server list and buttons as a new desktop wallpaper, which will be extremely inconvenient since it doesn't allow me to use the mouse, see any other windows, or otherwise control my PC as a human should be able to.
I sure hope the Dev rep is right, as I don't intend to keep being locked up by this one game out of the 25 Steam titles I have installed that run fine, from Left4Dead2 to Fallout3 to Braid to Defense Grid to.. well, almost anything else the rest of you are playing.

Try windows key+L
Thats the shortcut to switch users which will get me out of any hangup 90% of the time. You just relogin to the same user and then ctrl+alt+delete it from there...

same here . Advertising this as a multiplayer game is a big con . Having to end task from simply trying to join a game is a joke.
had steam for around 7 years , own alot of multiplayer games , this game is the biggest disgrace i've encountered . If i cant play multiplayer tommorow night after work im getting a refund.

completely agree . Me and my friends all just hang on 'join' and have to reboot machine , even in the modern age of early releases and buggy games this game is a farce.

You guys realize the developers have made 2 patches in less the two days for this game right?
On top of that they are staying in communication with customers through these forums.
If anything I give credit for the developers because they are supporting their game so WELL.
Every damn person has such a huge sense of entitlement these days that they have a massive fit when something doesn't work. This game only had a $10 cost and you guys are freaking out over something that the developers are obviously working on.
What else exactly would you have spent your massive savings of $10 on? Maybe some fastfood? How about a $10 movie?
