I've searched the forums for this specific glitch but haven't found anything quite like it.

Weird artifacts begin to show up in the textures after playing for about 20 minutes or so. I know they only show up with DX10 enabled whereas DX9 has no problems.

Here are some pics:

I've looked for a solution for the past few months during which I've tried several different drivers, resolutions and setting all with the same effect(except direct x. I'm running all max graphics on i7 950, 6gb 1600mhz ram, gtx 460 sli on windows 7 ultimate. I've been scouring the web for a solution but with no luck, any ideas?

ATI user here and never experienced any such things on DX9 or DX10 mode. Could be your Nvidia graphics SLI setup... or drivers... either update to a newest one, or roll back to an older and see if that makes a difference?

I'm running a single GTX460(1gb) with the latest nvidia drivers(January 2011). Not seeing anything like that, nor have I ever.

You can try verifying the game files through steam.

Doesnt even really look like artifacting to me, looks like the wireframe lines are poking through, or whatever you call it.

IIRC, this game does not like SLI. Try disabling it (yes, I know you shouldn't have to)

tried, validating though I haven't tried disabling sli, I'll give that a shot. probably will have to turn AA down...

thanks for the replies but disabling sli did not work. I found a setting in the nvidia control panel for texture filtering negative LOD bias which I thought would work but didn't. I'm using a microATX case so my cards get around mid 60c full load but I don't have issues with other games. I have used probably 4 different drivers (including beta drivers). I still wouldn't be surprised if that was the problem tho. Any other ideas?

Have you fiddled around with your in game video settings, maybe there is something there it doesn't like, or would benefit from having it reset. For instance, change to a basic default graphics level. Save and restart. See if issue is gone. Then hike up settings again individually to see if that has cured it, or if one of them makes it reappear?

A bit late to this discussion, but I am having the same issue. GTX 460 1GB SLI as well, Win7 64 Pro, AMD X3 720. Driver version is 260.99. I noticed it gets far worse with higher AA. With AA disabled, the black effect still travels as I move around, but the edges of the polys aren't as obvious anymore.

Looks like its not showing up in DX9 mode, so maybe this would solve the problem for anyone else who has this issue.

This must be Far Cry 2, because FC1 was not DX10 (no one ever said which FC this was, LOL) WICKO, did you have Ambient Occlusion turned on? I never had good luck with that enabled. Originally was running a GTX260, now have an EVGA GTX470SSC. Neither card likes that Ambient stuff. Otherwise, no problems with any textures even in DX10. (260.99 drivers)

Probably, I think I had everything maxed out, I'll have to check when I get home from work. AO probably gets turned off in DX9 mode so maybe that is it, I think AO requires DX10 but I'm not 100% sure.

I am getting this same bug, did anyone ever figure out what was causing it or a workaround (other than just going to DX9)?
I am running FC2 @ 1920x1080 dx10 max settings 4x ingame AA, 16x AF 4xTrSSAA in Nvidia control panel. Config i7 920, 2x GTX 570 in SLI, 6GB ram, Vista x64.

After some more searching online, I found this
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=183887&st=480&p=1177278&#entry1177278

Apparently the DX10-SLI compatibility flag is set incorrectly in newer Nvidia drivers. It should be 0x004802F5 instead of 0x004902F5. I changed it using Nvidia Inspector and it fixed my texture problem. If changing it caused a new problem, I didn't notice it in a few hours of play.

Thanks for the tip. This seems to fix the missing textures I was seeing.
