The game is incredibly fun and unique, but the online play is beyond words like atrocious. Every. Single. Game Ive played has ended up in disconnects and huge amounts of lag, even before the first wave is over.

How did this even get on steam is mind boggling, especially for money, which i paid.

I'm really asking here Devs, did you know about these problems? I don't think multiplayer could be any worse than it is. this is just.. wow.

I look forward to being able to play this Magicky goodness you've created in multiplayer, eventually.

:/ I had a few games that went perfectly fine. I must say I did look for extremely low latency and I also opened the right ports for play.

Not all games went fine tho, but you shouldn`t forget the obvious factors, they give connectivity problems too.

I kind of agree with you but you should be looking at some points:
- you only spent 10 bucks and they're working very hard for it to work for you (you could argue they're doing the work they should have done before releasing the product now after releasing it)
- Multiplayer feels like needing to host a dedicated server in order to play a game, that means your upload speed is the download speed of all your teammates if you are hosting the game (I have a 30kb/s upload speed, ya kno) if they made official servers and we hosted lobbies within these servers everything would be so smooth but they have a tight budget and cannot afford high end dedicated servers

EDIT: behold the punctuation in the last paragraph

I can tell you many more games that got on steam and received nearly no patching afterwards. At least they're working on something.

Please.. it's just poor implementation, nothing else. This is a indie game with pretty simple mechanics. Somehow games made 20 years ago with MORE complex gameplay were able to run fine on 56kb\s and without de-syncs.

Game is still very fun. I hope they will fix it eventually

I played a little bit of online before, didn't find lag or anything a problem. But what I found was one guy killing the rest of us over and over again. I ended up leaving soon after..

Exactly what do you expect them to do about it now that they aren't doing already? Hmm?

They also had worse graphics so they had the leniency to put more work into gameplay mechanics...

As mentioned in a couple of other threads: use Tunngle for this game if you want to play multiplayer. Almost all crash and major lag issues disappeared. On rare occasions there may be a lagspike and crash, but far less frequently than before.

Only slight drawback is that you cannot play on passworded servers when you connect to a game by filling in the IP manually, simply cause there is nowhere to fill in the password.

You either code your network portion right or you don't. The fact that it requires insane amounts of upload bandwidth is an indicator of either a lack of knowledge or laziness. But they are working on it so I'm fine which is good.

Tunngle looks pretty spiffy.

honestly being so small they probly had run out of cash and had to sell it to fix the tail end of the game and multiplayer, either way they 'are' doing something all i see is masses of patches being made atm, honestly i respect small companys trying hard but i agree having ( what feels like ) a half-baked game isnt an ideal situation for anyone
i'm stuck at boss 6 atm because it crashes all the time or i fall through the platforms, now there is a fix for it but im wating for the patch because i dont like editing steam files, last time i tried it the whole damn thing went corrupt because steam is about as stable as magika :P

persoanly i'm fairly patient for this because its a brilliant system and ill love it when it works fully and i have other games i can play for a day or two untill they patch it again
( seriously they're patching at the speed of font )

anyhow, they are trying ( and succeding ) in fixing 90% of issues so i wont flame them untill they drop the ball on customer support because as i say they have active fixes for most problems

Fearamoan, there's already a fix posted for the crash at boss 6. Read the threads.

Hi Soulmagika,

Devs are working as hard as they can to iron out the bugs.

The game's been patched 3 times in 3 days and a fourth patch is coming tonight.

We've got a great post release plan for you guys so with a little patience we promise you'll get your moneys worth if you don't think you've gotten it already.

Some people seem to think only harakiri will be enough now.
