If I set res ingame to my monitors native res game auto sets refresh rate to 50hz. I manually try to change it back to 60hz, but no matter what I do it will not stick. Is there any kind of remedy for this? Or do we just deal with an unresolved bug?

The game, while fun, is a console port so customization is slim. For me it's no 5:3/4:3 support. With you it's your refresh rate. I don't even remember a refresh rate being in the config file. If it is, I guess you could try making the config file read only. If it will let you.

you can go into your video card control panel and set global settings to force vsync. if that doesnt work than you can try setting vsync for individual programs.
if you have nvidia , right click the desktop and select "nvidia control panel", then select "manage 3d settings", under "global settings" select vsync and turn it to force on. it should be simmilar for ati/amd cards.
if that still doesnt work check the display settings(in windows this time), and ensure that you monitor refresh rate is actually set to 60hz.

Do you by any chance have a HDMI connected to your monitor?
