View Full Version : Punish system for TK'ing

I really do not like the fact that the person whom gets team killed suffers a death stat and respawn time while the person who committed the action goes unscathed. I realize that team kills, for the most part, are unintentional but that doesn't mean that it should go unpunished. Having no repercussions only means that the person who commits these offenses have no motivation to better their awareness. On the extreme scale, it lets immature players team kill purposely and laugh that the only stats they affect are the people trying to enjoy a game.

I believe the game needs two things in regards to a penalty system. It needs a kick/ban option for the players to use with a majority vote system. That will help with intentional greifers. As for the unintentional tk issues, there are other games to model a penalty system after but a common solution would be have an auto-kick when infractions hit a set number.

Either intentional or unintentional, it ruins the enjoyment of others in the server. Without a system to "settle the score" with the offender, other then running up and tk'ing him back, the frustration over it grows daily. No reason that we should all have to suffer for others shortcomings and sit and take it.

this game needs more then 2 things. but yes this would be good for them to work on aswell.

This game has features that enable the use of TKs as a tactic. It's very possible to move within the enemy's numbers and confuse them into shooting at each other. The more powerful their weapons and explosives, the more damage I can do to them without firing a shot.

But hustling towards the enemy is also a great way to get killed by your own team. I wouldn't want them suffering a penalty because I'm a cowboy.

Big +1 to the kick/ban option ... AFAIK it's already on the way. :)

There should be a sort of system where by if you team kill more than three times or something you have to sit out the entire game as a spectator. If you do it in the next game however you should be kicked! :) I've teamkilled by accident and really didnt mean it but it gets annoying when people do it just to grief.

Also guilty of some unintentional teamkills. Though whenever it happened it was because the teammate I killed was using the playermodel that's almost identical to the opponent's one (the special forcesesque and another one with the guy wearing a cap and and has 2 stripes on his face). They should be more distinctive, imagine playing counter strike and it'd be counter terrorists vs. coutner terrorists, you're bound to get a bunch of team kills.

Some games have a good system.
Halo will keep a record of your TK's. It can also tell how 'avoidable' they were.. for example... if you aim right at your team mate and pull the trigger that is almost certainly an instant boot.

Once your balance of TK's hits a threshold you start getting booted instantly for any offence.

This stays in effect for a couple of days until its reset.
It's a pretty good system.

The problem is though... i have had so many people run into my breach charges, or C4 satchels and get blown up.

I don't want to be held accountable for these mistakes!

Also with the physics its very easy to get killed or accidentally kill by toppling something onto somebody.

I haven't come across enough team killing in games I play and usually an apology is more than enough.

Are you finding it to be pretty rampant?

What also happens sometimes is that teammates run straight into your line of fire, and are killed.

Most rampant tk streak was a n00b convoy match on nocturnal. Guy on the mk19 (rear vehicle) was just going to town on that tunnel while the team was hustling to set some charges on the barricade. He must have killed the entire rest of the team two times over. Lot of smoke in the tunnel and the fight was a bit hectic. Got me three times, but I try to mix it up with the enemy positions. He apologized profusely and stepped away from the weapon (makes me laugh when new players develop a fear for their own weapons). The mk19 is most effective when used by a player that knows the level, or at least when a spotter is calling fire on the targets.

so they may do or not do, i don't know but what i do no is for now it won't be with our involvement...

Not whining about it, I'll prefer a match with FF on over a match with it off. It adds more to the gameplay.

This. Yesterday, I had multiple people who were not paying attention and running directly into my line of fire, WHILE I was firing the weapon. There is nothing I can do to stop in time when they are nearby and not in my view beforehand.

I try to be careful, and I do get the occasional accidental teamkill due to lag or simply screwing up, but I would hate to be punished repeatedly because someone else is purposely getting into my line of fire. People can grief by TK'ing, or abusing a punishment system.

So if a system is put in place, it better be well thought out to prevent abuse of it.

One of the things I like about TKs is it requires teammates to pay attention and position themselves properly in a moving squad. This happens just as often in actual combat as it happens in the game (maybe not quite as much as actual warfighters are trained in working together and have better communication during firefights). I often find myself stuck behind a friendly combatant waiting for a window so I can move up behind him.

What I love most about having TK enabled is the fights during a package retrieval match. Had to try and pick off an offensive fighter that was getting in a knife fight with my bag-man. It's really hard to prevent hitting my VIP when he's caught in a point-blank match with a more well equipped opponent. Feels really good when I take out the enemy without hurting my friends.

TK should be a requirement on all servers. This isn't suppose to play like CoD. Team killing gives a very real sense of comraderie and the need to pay attention.
