So I'm playing China, the Ming.

There are two nomad hordes near me. The oriet horde, and the Chimeriu (spell*) horde.

As china, I can't annex them, nor take any of their provinces through peace demand!

I can only, ever, either damand monthly payments from them, OR gain 5 prestige as they admit defeat. Automatically whenever the truce expires they declare war on me again. And, we do the same thing over again and again, same options.

THe nomad hordes can expand, but it appears that non horde nations can NOT get rid of these guys!!

The Manchu, above me, they war the hordes all the time as well, they take all their lands occupying, and the most they get is monthly payments and presige as well. It's unfair.

Yet again, thes hordes are slowly expanding whenever they actually win a peace demand.

Does anyone know why this is? Is there any possible way to annex these nomadic hordes?

I also noticed the "Golden Horde", is not a nomadic horde, but a civilized horde, and it IS possible to annex and peace demand their provinces.

Strange.

I also got a note saying that Nomadic Nations can not nagotiate Peace Demands. Yet the game soes allow me to only nagotiate monthly fees OR prestige. Not both, that is. It's only one or the other.

I could have a WAR SCORE of 85%, and monthly fees is 23% and prestige is 5%, and still it won't let me pick both. It' restricts me to only one of those options.

So now I only war up to a War Score of 25%, roughly taking 1-2 provinces and that is enough for them to surrender and even offer ONE of the only two nagotiatable demands on the table.

update:

Ok, I think I found out the problem.

Apparently, the only way to take horde provinces is to
1) occupy the territory
2) colonize it.
3) at the same time while still at war.

Then it is yours.

However, as China, this is near impossible if not impossible.
Only the Temple faction can WAR, and only the Eunich faction can colonize....
So, this means that while I'm at war with a nomadic horde, I've got to first occupy the lands, THEN switch my policies so that in time the Eunich faction takes over THEN finally I can colonize.

Now I know why I seen the Manchu Nation occupy nomadic horde nations for 15 years without making a demand deal. It's because they are waiting for ther slider bar policy to change.
That's assuming the Manchu Chinese have a similar factions government a I do in Ming China.

I'm not sure I like this installment method. It's darned frustrating.
It's be much easier if I was NOT china.

Maybe this is Paradox way of not allowing China to expand north too fast... if not at all into russia.

Kinda unrealistic if you ask me.

Daryn your exactly right, it my Russian game ive colonized and completely annexed 4 horde nations by colonizing. I also think its hard for china because they don't want china colonizing upward without giving Russia enough time to colonize across Siberia.

Well the hordes seem to declare war on me no matter what faction I am so I am just sitting there occupying all their territory with no way to send a colonist. Super this faction thing isn't annoying at all.

Yes I tend to take a couple proves from a horde and then if I don't have any colonists handy, I make peace and ask some money from them or prestige. Garunteed they willl start war again after peace is up. I just keep doing that over and over again, and in the mean time where I can, colonize their provinces. This takes a while, but it's pretty cool.

I mean, if they are going to attack everytime peace is up, those barbarics! Then I might as well get small easy victory gains from them. It' makes sense, because technically hordes are a broken peoples, nomadic and not really a nation. So it's like scaring them away, making short and profitable peace, but in the end they are a radical peoples and will want to pour into your lands again and again because they have no where else to go.

In time, one can mix the nomads in with your nations colonists, in turn, peacefully changing nomads into your nation without too much intense war. At least this is what I see it as at this point.
