FO3 Retail and Steam

If I bought a retail copy of FO3, can I still keep track of my achievements in Steam?

A retail copy of Fallout 3 can't be activated on steam, and on top of that not even the steam version of Fallout 3 has achievements.

You could use Games for Windows Live to get achievements though, that works with both steam and retail copies.
