People have told me buy and not to buy Intell 2ed gen CPU because they say its bad or good but don't give a reason why they love or hate it.

so in short do you love or hate it and why?

Are you talking about the Sandy Bridge i5/i7 CPU's?

At the moment, I hate it because Intel screwed up the SATA controller on their motherboards. What was a great product is not on the market for the time being.

Sandy Bridge is great for performance, but there's a SATA glitch at the moment. When they're fixed, I'd definitely advise buying one, but if you want a computer now I'd advise Phenom II.

As madpistol noted, it would be a bad idea to buy a Sandy Bridge system at this time. There is an issue with the associated chipsets where the 3Gbs SATA ports will fail over time (though the 6Gbs ports are fine).

Having said that, Sandy Bridge CPU's offer excellent performance for $200 - $300, and outperform just about everything AMD has to offer. That may change by the time the fixed motherboards become available (April).

The question is, what are you running with now, and what are you looking to use the new system for?

i have a 3 year old pc and is geting slow AND its lowest of the low, can buy a new one in summer or fall. I just wanted to know if the intell 2ed gen CPU had probloms and will be fix befor fall and if others hated or loved it and how good/bad it is.

Come back when you're ready to buy. Six months is a long time in technology, and the competitive picture may have changed by then.

Gotta both love and hate that puppy. It's got all the makings of champion breed, but just crapped on the carpet and chewed on the furniture. Makes it more worthwhile to wait for Bulldozer before making up my mind which to take home.
