Can't figure out how to patch

So when I installed Vampires through steam I was never asked where to save the game. It just installed right away without picking a path.

The shortcut leads to this URL steam://rungameid/2600 and not an actual file location or anything.

I have verified the integrity of my local files, but I can't find any local files.

I downloaded a patch, but I don't know how to install it. The install notes said to copy it into the vampire folder, but I have no vampire folder.

Can someone explain how steam works? I'm very confused here. -Thanks.

It's in steamapps/common/vampire the masquerade - bloodlines/

All game data is stored in

Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common (for all games in Steam except ones created by Valve, which are stored in the \steamapps\"Account Name"
