Happens a lot, the last tank or tanks drop dead, you have just seconds to get yourself on your way to the rescue spot... but one of your teammates was incapped. Or maybe two or even three of them, all down. They're just far enough away that you KNOW if you go try to help them you're all doomed including you. The horde is already coming, plus another tank (or two).

Maybe that one teammate was smoker pulled a great distance. Or perhapens he/she was tank-slapped and flew 100 yards away, maybe on the other side of a high fence or something.

What do you do? What's your usual choice? Rescue/die or run/live?

Me, if I'm playing with the bots I high-tail it to the rescue. I'll help one of the bots up if they're close to me, then I'm out of there. (When I do that the bot I helped up of course goes to the others to try and help them, and all 3 die virtually every time).

But if I'm playing with live players I usually will try harder to help them out. But if they say "NO, get to the rescue" it's probably a good idea to go so you at least end the campaign with someone alive, no?

Think of the Hard Rain or Swamp Fever finales, where once the rescue is arriving you have only a few seconds to move it or lose it.

When faced with this choice, what do you do?

It depends, on expert I'll pick them up if I can. Especially if they need the achievement for that map. Doing a finale over again so a friend can get his expert awards isn't a big deal. On VS if I think I can get away with it and or we really need the points, I get them up. If we are screwed and I have to run, I run.

It sucks when your teammate could have gotten you up and didn't so you don't get credit for the whole campaign, and miss out on the award. Not that they really mean anything but it is annoying.

Honestly though I have played these maps so many (many may many many) times one more round on a finale wont hurt.

For some reason , In the Parish finale , My 3 partners died by the tank and so I ran off , When I dropped down the bus under the bridge , One of them started a kick votation against me , And I was all like WTF? and someone else voted for yes and after a few seconds. I got kicked

Only if they're nearby *and* I have adrenaline, or they're very nearby and we're going to have to wait for a few seconds anyway.

Dead Air on expert: the plane was open, and there was one other teammate incapped across the field, and a horde was coming. I saved myself.

If they are within 10 feet of me, I'll rescue them. Any farther and I'm not risking it =D

I am very much a team player, but come the finale end crescendo, all bets are off.

I'll try to make a fast judgment. If I think I have a relatively good chance of getting back to you and getting you up without killing myself in the process, i'll try.

otherwise, yer on yer own as far as i'm concerned.

If CAMPAIGN on EASY/NORM/ADV: Sure. Up yous goes.

If CAMPAIGN on EXPERT: If you need the cheevement, I'll pick ya up, and if I die doing it, I don't mind replaying the finale. They're usually not that bad. And I always think of how in my very first expert campaign (Parish), I was downed quite far from the helicopter, and a very nice person came to save me :D. I like to pass on the favor.

If VERSUS: Depends on how soon SI spawns will be, where on the map my teammates are, what throwable I have for distraction, adreny, how good the other team is, where the final tank spawned, and sometimes even a question of score. Is complex yo D:

If someone is going for an achievement requiring that they live through it, then I rescue, because if I complete it without them they basically have to do the whole campaign over. They are less likely to have been incapped in that case, though, as I likely would have use my health kit on them and given them my shot after they took theirs. I'm not the person to look to to save you from a tank, especially in a situation in which there will be another thank coming by even if I pull it off.

Most of my friends don't particularly *want* to play the finale twice just to get more people onto the rescue vehicle.

If the win requires more survivors to make it to the chopper than what are standing, then rescue.
If it's expert campaign and the downed players need the achievements, then rescue.

Other than that, they're left for dead.

In any regular campaign game, if all 4 don't make it, I consider it a failure. I'll go back every single time. One person making it just seems like a waste to me, the fun is trying to get all 4 through. Honestly, I have seen some EPIC struggles for survival that have ended with all 4 people surviving despite what would normally be considered rediculous odds, and that makes the game all that much more fun than if someone just jumped on the choppah and said screw everyone else.

I normally try to pick them up unless 1) I know that we'll end up losing if I tried to do it, or 2) we've had to restart the finale many times and we just want to end it (we play on advanced).

I remember one time, DeC finale. Two were down, i filled in the last gas can, ran to them, third person went down and instantly a horde and a tank was coming straight for us. I was like, "uhh. sorry guys!" and ran.

And yet another time, DaC finale, two were waiting in the helicopter, and one guy got incapped by a tank's rock throw. I ran out there, picked him up and the four of us managed to escape. :D

The parish finale drives me nuts, I hate how most of the teams gun it past the tank, I agree, it's wise but if not everyone can make it, battle it. No hordes gonna come, but when 2 or 3 run off and the tank manages to block the ladder for the 3rd then don't leave them there, help them out sheesh, I notice sometimes you get 1 or 2 come back but theres always the last guy that insists on GUNNIN it, this makes it even worse as the hordes spawn again and the SI seem to get a bit more frequent making the tank battle even harder.

Me I'm a team player and will do my best at saving you, if it Just can't then I leave.

If I got adrenaline I'll use it, if I got bile or a pipe I'll use it, I try and do my best with what i got in order to help out others.

For example: Rochelle is 5HP, she's slow, I got some bile and I CAN use it early, but instead I save it for say the boat run, I'll use it about 10 seconds after the boat gets there to give Ro a chance and cover her.

It's all about the situation for me.

If you need the Expert achievement, I will bust my ♥♥♥♥ to save you, since I know how frustrating it is to lose out due to a selfish prat.

I usually tell people I don't need it incase they are under the same mentality.

Any other difficulty? Again, if you need an achievement. Yes.
If not. No.

In any version of Versus I've always got one eye on the scores, so if we need those extra bodies to win I'll do my best to revive (usually with adrenaline) but if we've won I'll usually be told to make like a tree and leaf.

The other night we had 3 pinners taking care of 3 Survs and the 4th just booked it to the saferoom from the open door at the station in The Parish.

As we couldn't leave the victims that person (Revel) managed to make it and those extra yards and 25 points ended up being the difference in scores at the end.

Sorry folks, it's an apocalypse, say hi to the angels for me *meeep meeep* like Speedy Gonzales

If we're doing Expert to get the achievement, I'll let them die because if I'm not mistaking, if one makes it, everyone gets the achievement. Right?
In Versus it depends. I'll usually try and save them because I don't give a sh-t about winning or losing but if I see they're really too far away, I don't bother.
In all other games (CoOp just for fun) I go with the principle "either we all make it, or we all die and try again"

Depends. Playing with friends everyone is ok, if only one makes it to the rescue.

On public servers I usually ask about achievements.

But I have also been on public servers on which the players were such selfish morons lacking any sort of team spirit that I soloed it and left the server cause I didn't want to know how they did.

Wrong. If they die in the finale, they're not getting the achievement. They have to make it to the rescue vehicle.

in reality it may be easier to save a person..but also, in reality - death/injury is permanent. i only say it may be easier to save them in reality because your perception of the scenario is much more on point than in a video game..and you can do things in reality you're not able to do in the video game..improvisation is key in saving a persons life under these circumstances, and there is very little to improvise with under the rules of this game once you put everything into perspective..

that being said, if the risk of saving someones life in reality is less than huge, then i would def chance it, but in the game..when in doubt, head for the rescue vehicle..the risk is almost always huge when the vehicle arrives and said person is at a great distance from rescue..

many of us have chanced it and failed, and chanced it an succeeded..but understand that the chances of success arent very high..in reality though, it may be worth it..9 times outta 10 though, personally, im heading for the vehicle..even in reality..

depends of where the Tank is, if it's too far, i might consider helping you. If it's too close, nice to meet you.

If I can save them, I'll do so.

If there is a hunter on them, 20 common wailing on them, and a tank 3 seconds away from them, sorry mate. You're already dead. You just haven't realized it yet.

There is an exception. If they stood still and tried to gun down infected to inflate their score, they choose their fate and can die for it.
