View Full Version : "Invalid Format" Issue on Vizio 32" monitor =/
Anyone else have any idea how to fix this on a 32" monitor? As soon as i start up the game, it plays the music and i can hear the sound of things being pressed if i just click around randomly on my black screen (it's just blank with a big "Invalid Format" caption in the center of the screen).. I've tried changing the launch settings via steam multiple times in order to alter the resolution, but nothing at all has worked.. If anyone has any idea how to fix this, i'm really dying to play this game considering I just got it (because of the play-through vid by Simon of the Yogscast <--- Thank them, developers of Crasher) and it looks to be great fun. Is there any sort of code to put into the "Set Launch Options" that would make it play in windowed mode? Any advice helps, and I really appreciate it :)
Try to open "options.xml" in any text editor you have lying around (Notepad is a good bet).
This file can be found in the game's installation directory in Steam. Typically, it'll be
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\crasher
In there, find
ResolutionWidth="someValue"
and
ResolutionHeigth="someOtherValue"
Put a resolution you know your screen can handle, starting from something as close to 1920x~1080 and going DOWN (your issue being most probably that the resolution the game is try to use isn't properly supported by the engine, or that the engine is trying to display a resolution your screen can't handle, whichever way).
Depending on your screen ratio, it won't necessarily be 1920x1080: that's only if your screen is a 16/9.
If it's a 16/10, try 1920x1200.
If it's something else like 4/3 (on a 32"? The @&), try 1920x1440.
Try other lower sets of resolutions corresponding to your screen ratio based on this chart (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Vector_Video_Standards2.svg).
While in the options file, feel free to fiddle with other options that are not exposed in the game, my most favorite of all time being by far
FOV="120"
^_^
EDIT: I looked up your screen on the interwebz (it's this one (http://www.vizio.com/vo320e.html) right?), and it turns out that it's a 32" screen with a f'ed up non standard ratio of... 683/384 and a native resolution of 1366x768, so just try this resolution directly.
