You guys (vavle) should port steam for 3ds (you would get it from the nintendo marketplace thing) and the steam app for 3ds is free and it should connect to your steam account and they'll port the games for 3ds, just like you did for the mac! i mean steam not where you just launch your game, but be able to make a new steam account and if you're not new to steam, like a said, it can connect to your steam account, and the steam where you can buy games too! So you guys would port TF2 for the DS and just have it on lower then low graphics. So you can have all the weps you got on the PC/Mac you can use on TF2 3DS! all so port half life 2 and portal, and port as much source games you can! Please do this!

I would rather there be a Steam Application for Droid first... if anything just for chat and maybe even to make purchases.
Though I don't EVER expect them to start selling Mobile Games...
I WOULD like to see Portal in 3D though, would be tight.
The 3DS cardridge will not be enough fat to contain Gabe Newell babys.

Given how cozy Valve seems to be with Sony now, I wouldn't put it past the realm of possibility. But I think it's REALLY unlikely. The PSP2 is a more likely candidate, if anything.
Nintendo by and large doesn't care about third parties, and save for a handful of respectable exceptions, their devices are best used for their own software.
That said, I'd really like to see Valve handle Nintendo's online infrastructure, because Nintendo is pretty clueless about that aspect of gaming.

You know what. I'm putting it out there. I like Nintendo and all, but they are living in the 90's. :o
A portable, by Nintendo no less, being able to play Portal? I.... don't think so. PCs have enough problems running the game, and that's DirectX. The current OpenGL (Mac) port is slower than that on decent Macs (not too much, but it is slower). Since Nintendo uses OpenGL (I would think, anyway) I think it'd be even worse.
Plus aren't all the control mechanisms on the right side, buttons on the left? Can't really control it with the stylus, because you still need the buttons.
I have my doubts that it'd even be possible, much less worth doing control-wise.
Heh, multiplayer for Nintendo is to get 4 people in a room to play with one another, not online. I guess that's not a bad thing to encourage, really. Makes it more personal. They do seem a little too hesitant to work on online stuff though, maybe for that personalization reason. You have to personally know the person at the other end of the online service to get it to work.

When you consider the screens' low resolutions, and how uncharacteristically powerful the system is, I don't doubt Portal could be on the 3DS and look quite nice. It's already running a version of the Resident Evil 5 engine, after all. I also think the controls could be done, although personally I'm not a fan of the "stylus as analogue stick" setup.
The issue is more about business logistics. Would Valve consider it worthwhile to get into that market? Would ever-insular Nintendo trust an outsider enough to host said outsider's service on their online platform? My gut reaction to both is "Probably not."

"Port games to 3DS"...
....You know that's not possible, right?
