Can't Run original DoD

Title says it all, I can run Venice without issues but whenever i try to launch the original game nothing happens. I get the same problem attempting to run the game form the steamapps folder. What's wrong? :confused:

When you click on the icon to start the game but nothing happens does it. You are just sitting there looking at the desktop right. Go into your steam folder and start the game from there and I think it tell you that you are missing a flie to start the game. I think what is wrong is that the directx9 didn't load and that is why the game isn't starting.

Folders: - Steam/steamapps/commom/DOD/

Click on one of the icons. It should tell you that this file is missing "D3DX_94.dll something like that.

In there should be a directx folder and in there run the DXSETUP.

I actually did that, but it had no effect. I difn't get that error message either.

I had the same issue before. It could be a result in a corrupt or out of date engine.ini file. Go to C:\Users\<YourUser>\Application Data\Ubisoft\Anno1404\Config (for windows 7)and rename the engine.ini file to engine_old.ini. Then try loading it again and the game should repopulate it with default settings.
