View Full Version : Napoleon: Total War - the worst optimized game in history?

Specs:

CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 630 (quad-core)
RAM: 4096 MB
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT

I have a fairly decent rig. I can run a lot of the current games on medium and sometimes even high with decent FPS. So I got Napoleon: Total War the other day, being a fan of the Total War Franchise. I laughed. I cannot run the game even at medium settings without getting more than 20 FPS, and at medium the game looks like it was developed in 2001. I switch it to the low, which gives me more than 60 FPS, but it makes the game look like it was designed on the N64 or SNES. Is this a joke, or is this one of the most horribly programmed games in history? Looking forward to returning this game with pleasure.

the 9500GT (8600GT) was fairly decent only when it came out...4 years ago.

And Napoleon ran better than Empire did.

I don't think a 9500 GT's best work should be rendering a game at the graphics quality of something released on the SNES with 2D trees and models. I can run Medal of Honor (2010) maxed out on this rig.

Didn't help much. I play all my games at my native monitor's res at 1280 x 760.

I'll take everyone's word for it that it's the GPU when someone explains how the same GPU is able to render this:

But with a different game is able to render something that looks like it's on the N64 and SNES. Oh and both titles released the same year.

lol no way a 9500GT maxes out Medal of Honor at 1920x.

youre not really encouraging people to help you by being an antagonistic ♥♥♥♥.

update your drivers. Try turning some intensive settings like shadows to low so you can keep the others. And its obviously your GPU when the game is among the best looking Ive ever seen on my system.
