I've been gobbling beef like a swede lately. I never realised how much better going to the butcher is or how it's possible to regularly eat tasty but very affordable steak.

I've been buying 1kg of choice t-bone for $10, which is enough for 3 decent sized meals. To get it nice and tasty (medium rare) I;

- Leave it out on a plate in the kitchen for it to get to room temp. (~30m)
- Heat up oil in frying pan on high until a drop of water will jump around.
- Place steak in... don't fondle it just get it in gently lol
- Put salt, pepper, mixed herbs on and cook for 2-3mins. Afterwards flip, reseason and cook until the steak is roughly the firmness of the tendon between your pointer and middle fingers.
- Take it out.. again no foreplay/manhandling you want to keep it juicy. Wrap your meat in foil for 5 mins, by the time you take it off it will be soft and juicy :D.
- Don't serve with JUST potatoes unless you want to become a fatty.

tldr: List your steak cooking methods, sides, what you like to buy and for what prices etc.

When I'm hungry, I'll eat a Porterhouse. When I'm really hungry, I'll eat a Portermansion (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5atPYaxX0lM).

Tenderize and spice rub the steak before placing on a salted pan, char it quickly then take it out of the pan, slice a thin round onion slice, quarter it and place it on the pan then place the steak on top of the onion pieces to prevent direct contact with pan, leave it until cooked to preference.

On occasion I go for a thin blue steak, but prefer medium done.

I dont eat meat very often and I eat steak even less but I do like it. I brown the outside in a frying pan with olive oil, slice in half and eat like a burger with honey + mustard dressing.

Try some Market/Spencer cut. I think it's 'in' again now, so it might cost too much, but I'll guess depends on where you live. Add some Swiss chard & garlic mashed potatoes and Bob's your Uncle!
