CD Keys Useless Now?

I bought this game when it was on sale for $7.00 a long time ago. I never used the CD key because I wanted to wait for right time to play it. Now that it's free, is my CD key useless now? Also, do the steam achievements still work on the free version?

Nope not useless. Cd key is for the retail version. Which differs from the free version.

Paid subs are called gold, and free is called silver. You should check out what you have coming to you.
