Achievements bug?

I bought HL2-Ep1 a few days ago. The achievement "Watch your head" comes early in the game when you are thrown into the Citadel by Dog while inside a gutted old rent-a-wreck. From what I understand, Im supposed to get this achievement by staying in the car until after it has trashed down the elevator shaft - but Im not getting the achievement?

I do not have cheats enabled and i do have the steam cloud turned on. anyone have any ideas? anything would be great, thanks.

Nope just keep playing and you'll get the achievement. There are no achievements related to that part of the game in my experience.

That's not an elevator shaft. Keep going through the Citadel, you'll eventually come to a clear elevator that you and Alyx ride down. Achievement get when you reach the bottom.

Yeah that comes much later in the Citadel and has nothing whatsoever to do with Dog.

Okay.. then the walkthru i was reading was a lie.. lol.. I did make it as far as the 2nd elevator.. have yet to get past it but thanks for the info..
