When I hear "Cover me, I've got to heal", I just can't help but think about the scientifically documented proof that love helps in the healing process. Of course, as Nicolus Cage noted in the movie Moonstruck, love isn't here to fix things, it's here to screw things up.

Love screw more things up then help them!? ITS SO TRUE!

Same thing with Zoey in No Mercy.

"Guys... I'm... pretty hurt"

In my mind it's like "Guys... I'm on my period. Is that gonna attract the horde?"
"Guys... I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance..."
"Guys... We should play I Spy to pass the time..."
"Guys... My hoodie smells pretty bad..."
"Guys... My flashlight batteries are pretty dead..."

Yup.

When I hear her say: "Guys... I have to heal." I think I should reach over and punch her in the face, slap her hands and put my foot on her medkit while pointing at her firmly and making eye contact like you would with a dog, and saying in a firm, loud, assertive voice:

"NO!... That's NOT for you! That's for PEOPLE!"

Hell you can have fun with the actual dialogue in the game by using the voice command wheel. Like using Look, argh, yes, etc. at the right time or while looking at the right thing/person. Especially when you get the timing down and interrupt lines with other lines.

Example:
Nick: Hey Coach! Chainsaw here!
Coach: Alllriiiight!
Nick: Stick it up your ***!
Coach: What the.. You crazy?!
Nick: .....Yes....

or

Nick: Rochelle!
Rochelle: Yo, Nick.
Nick:♥♥♥♥!! That's what I like to see!
Rochelle: Uhhh No.

Or
Rochelle: Sweet Lincoln's Coach!

or Bill: Mother of - Francis!

I haven't found any for Ellis yet, but I mostly play Nick/Bill/Coach.

It's hard to time it good with Ellis and Nick, I try and everytime I Nick cancels Ellis out altogether, but I did get a few times in there :P

I guess cause they are on the same voice channel, I dunno, I always go to say something and Nick will talk and cancel me out, so I gotta have good timing as you said ;)

I always laugh when they get attacked or almost killed and they continue on like nothing happened.

*Coach Almost dies*
*Someone saves him*
Coach: Hey Guuuns!
Coach: I know one thing I'm grabbin
Ellis: Rochelle

I know as you go in, Coach notices the sign and says

"Where the hell is ceda" then he says I'm sure something along the lines of him wanting to know where the hell they are too.

and he kinda muffles about the dead bodies and Nick says "Hell Coach, you know who did this" and sometimes Ellis says "People shooting people? That ♥♥♥♥ ain't right."

... Zoey in No Mercy...
In my mind it's like "Guys... I'm on my period. Is that gonna attract the horde?" ..."

Good one.

Background. When I was handling Drug Detection Dogs in the Army, a woman on her period would always distract the dog from his search. Ah but then so would cookies.

Btw, my dogs name was "Nick". For real! Blood hound and cookie monster.

Hey, my question is if the zombies alert to loud noise, why don't they alert to gun fire; especially the grenade launcher? Huh, huh, huh?

And hey, I love it when someone dies in L4D2 and Rochelle, seeing the dropped items, gleefully says "Alright! Weapons!"

Yeah, you'd think there would be some kind of flag on a weapon that is set when a player drops it due to dying, and prevents the line from being played.

"Boy... I'm gon' miss yo' goofy ♥♥♥. Autoshotty's mine!"

And I can explain what ACTUALLY alerts the zombies. It's not loud noises or high-pitched noises as Valve claims. It is actually the Enter key on the Survivor player's keyboard.

I'm guessing when you go into a store, people call the 'blue shirts' right away. If you are really doing this stuff and not just joking, you will either get help or end up locked up.

Meh, I'm not gonna walk on eggshells here. People can take it as they want, it doesn't bother me in the slightest. It was merely a preface for people that take every comment to the extreme, such as you seem to be.

What I meant is that in MY experience, I've RARELY met (and I know quite a few, trust me) an african american woman that wasn't very strongly opinionated and not afraid to be very vocal about how they feel. Rochelle is almost the opposite.

You know, I hated her stupid 'axe me a question' and 'ooohhh zombie swamp people!' from day one of the game. I came to the forums and was surpised that it was a pretty common feeling... And never, in all that time, had I looked at her boots until you guys pointed it out today.

I always get a big laugh when I hear this weak retort.
Or its close cousin, "you must be stupid".
I'm very bright, registering in the top 3 % in most areas according to extensive Neurocognitive Testing; the top 20% when it comes to social intellect.
So if it is funny, I'll probably get it.

Your idea of jokes register somewhere near the bottom.
Demeaning behavior toward female characters suggests misogyny.
A pejorative sense of humor suggests maladaption.
And the idea that those who don't share your tasteless sense of ridicule are 'not very bright' shows a substantial lack of insight.
That's coupled with an aberrant and inverted cognitive distortion of your own ability to evaluate others.

Other than that you are probably ok.
You're just not funny.
Not in a grown up way.

Perhaps you are a kid trying to be funny and you just don't know how to yet.
So you revert to the absurd and consider yourself gifted.
But you come across as demented.
Or just juvenile.
Now I know which it is.

Or... OR, hear me out here, during your many hours of "Neurocognitive Testing" and the extensive work to discover your budding "social intellect", you started taking things just a little too seriously? Wadd'ya think there, big guy? Did you ever think that while you're spewing forth accusations of misogyny and a lack of overall insight that it could just be YOU who was in the wrong? Taking an off hand joke about refusing to allow a video game character to heal and turning it into your own little crusade against mental illness?

Naw... It couldn't be that. It couldn't be that you took the whole thing too heart when, in fact, it's empty and meaningless. It couldn't be that you ascribed context to something that was just shallow. It can't be that, because you didn't enjoy a cheap laugh and felt the need to be aggressive about it, that you're the one showing a lack of insight? ;)

There's no doubt the joke was 'low brow', but I don't feel an overwhelming need to pretend that everything funny has to be brilliant as well. I can't laugh at 'funniest home videos', but it's not because those people aren't hurting themselves, it's because it's all so banal. I even gave you the benifit of the doubt about aimming low in the comedy department by playing along to your suggestion of medical assistance by pretending that I had tried it before and it had resulted in things getting worse because of my poor humour... Which you ALSO took seriously! :O

I am, however, deeply maladjusted, so you're not wrong. I think this conversation is sufficient demeaning to everyone involved, so I'll let it drop about here. I can understand if you want to carry on, however, given your overwhelming 'social intelligence' encouraged you to take a random joke on a thread about a character becoming pregnant during a zombie outbreak and turning it into a personal attack against the person who made it, rather then ignoring it and carrying on with your life.

Have at it, sir!

It could be that given the recent violence in Arizona and the lack of people taking seriously someone who was mentally unbalanced and their unwillingness to report such a person, that I was concerned enough to get a better read on you. Having been in enforcement, I would rather err on the side of being 'not very bright' or not appreciating 'low brow' jokes than err on the side of not taking seriously someone who went on to do real damage in the real world. Just this month I reported a group that was actively seeking to find out someones address and threatening that person harm, all over a gaming dispute. They immediately were backed off.

... I am, however, deeply maladjusted, so you're not wrong.

You are probably overstating to instill a bit of apprehension in others and make them somewhat fearful of you, as exhibited by your earlier aggressions. I'm not a therapist but I don't buy it. Nor do I back off from threats that have real potential until I determine them to be unlikely.

You are probably fairly bright and still adjusting to some of the 'madness' in the world. Your 'humor' was meant to 'raise eyebrows' and get attention which it did. It probably also was intended to vent off the reflected 'insanity' that we sometimes see or feel. "South Park" does this very well but they do it with a style that makes the humor obvious.

Still you show promise. I'm sure you will improve over time.

In closing finding fault with me for not appreciating your humor does not phase me in the least. Since others 'did not get it' as well and even had some concerns, I consider myself in good company. But even if I stood alone, I would stand with confidence and resolve.

Well, look, despite the debate, let me appologize then. I can assure you I was aiming for "Humour of the absurd", not "Let's cause actual damage". You know... Homer Simpson ending every suggest for a college prank with: "And then we roll him in a carpet and throw him off a bridge!!"... Not mafia'esque "Let's REALLY roll him up and throw him off a bridge". I didn't realise you were activly invovled in law enforcement and likley see the dull eyed stare of drug addled lunatics who constantly create this kind of chaos every day. That's my bad. :(

I'm actually 31, so hopefuly I'm as used to the madness as I'm going to get, because bewteen you and me, if it gets much madder then the stuff I've already seen I'm going to have to invest in a nice, quiet cave, a long beard and an imaginary friend to speak too.

I know I said I was going to drop it, but given that, in retrospect, you might be the kind of person who deals with people who have trouble seperating the "kill a hooker in GTA" and "kill and actual person and walk away", I'd like to be man enough to stand up and say: "Sorry about that." I assure you I meant not harm. Again, my mistake.

... bewteen you and me, if it gets much madder then the stuff I've already seen I'm going to have to invest in a nice, quiet cave, a long beard and an imaginary friend to speak too ...

Yep, there's lots of madness. Thankfully we have games and forums to help work out some of the frustrations and entertain our fantasies. A nice quiet cave can be our backup plan. Lol.

... I'd like to be man enough to stand up and say: "Sorry about that." I assure you I meant not harm ...

Plus rep.

I'll respond in kind and apologize for my serious tone. I'm glad to see you are one of the good guys.

So let's get back to having some fun.

This thread reminds me of playing that horror map that was mentioned on the blog.

*A flying book comes down the stairs and flies on by.*
Rochelle: Up the stairs!
*I'm playing as coach, so I hit "no".*
Coach: You crazy?!

Along with on Swamp Fever, I didn't even realise I timed this right as Nick.

*Rochelle looks at toilet*
Rochelle: Check this ♥♥♥♥ out!
Nick: No!

Well, I was mostly making a joke about the thread title vs. thread content.

But I think I did outline my problems with Rochelle on the last page:

1. Stupid hair
2. Stupid earrings
3. Weird ♥♥♥♥in'... cowboy boots??
4. "MULLET"

Well, that's just your opinion. I was talking about the general reason why No one likes Rochelle.

superdog is so smart he gets the inherit problems with iq test or social intelligence tests...

I like the joke that goes "A high I.Q. is like 4-wheel drive. It allows you to get stuck in more remote places." Yeah, like Calculus III.

OK, seriously, What The Hell Is Wrong With Rochelle?

Valve did not do Rochelle justice. Take a look at the face and voice actors for her near the bottom of the Wiki page. (http://left4dead.wikia.com/wiki/Rochelle)
Man oh man! Rochelle Aytes is about as gorgeous as it gets. And Shanola Hampton is no cast off either.

But in the write up they note that her popularity (which was previously at an extreme low) was reported to have risen after The Passing. So it seems Rochelle is to L4D2 what Louis is for L4D - unpopular.

I, for one like Rochelle as a playable character because she is very agile. More than once I have frustrated Tanks and Teams in Versus by getting something between us and just running around it; shoot, dodge, reload, repeat ... Tank fail. Her lines are not as great as Zoe's so I blame the writers for that.

Thank you for clearing that up, but there are two things I want to say.

So it seems Rochelle is to L4D2 what Louis is for L4D - unpopular.

...

Ok, now answer me this: What The Hell Is Wrong With Louis?

Seriously though, I really don't see anything wrong with him. Then again, maybe it's because I didn't play L4D1.

Her lines are not as great as Zoe's so I blame the writers for that.

Actually, Rochelle's unused lines are, in my opinion, much better then Zoey's current lines. I think that if they used those lines from the start, Rochelle probably could have ended up being more popular then Zoey.

Whoever decided to stick with: "Axe me a question" instead of the good lines should be the target of my hatred! This strikes me as one of those things you might see on Fail Blog, where two signs next to each other create a disgusting sub-context or some hilarious poetic justice. I'm forced to ask myself:

"Someone must have been in charge of putting up these signs right next to each other. They must have seen that the weight watchers add was right on top of the KFC add... It can't have escaped their notice! Who, then, decided this was a good juxtaposition??"

on the subjet of lines, in parish 2, after the passageway where the charger allways tries to get you, we come out in an area under the raised road, and coach says something everytime and I can never make out what he says

it sounds like 'more for um narfffff'

Anyone know what the hell hes saying?

If it's what i'm thinking of it's "Form an orderly line..." mixed with laughter. there's a sign around there that says that and Coach thinks it's funny because zombies and all

I'm pretty sure all the Survivors have the same movement and acceleration stats.

Rochelle has smaller hitboxes, which might make you a tiny bit harder to punch / rock in edge cases.

And WHY do you think my favorite L4D1 character is unpopular? he is more loved than Bill!

As much as I love Louis, I don't think he's more popular than Bill. Plus Bill's popularity surged after his death (posers...) :)

I like Louis, because he's your believable everyday ordinary guy. To be honest, I have an intense dislike for Francis. Maybe it's because I don't feel that "human connection" with him. Feels too fake. Plus, he has a thing for Rochelle! (Just kidding! Well..kinda) Or maybe I have issues because I'm trying to feel a human connection with a video game character? I need to get outside more...

Francis' stupidity amuses me.

L: "Well, you're gonna have to eat some of them."
F: "No, I like eating fish. That's how I let fish know that I hate them!"
