I discovered the prize is 44,99 in Holland, Belgium, Germany, and maybe some others, while the prize is 34,99 in other europpean countries.

Isn't the euro worth the same everywhere?

Valve should change the prize to 34,99 euros EVERYWHERE

Yup, payed €44,99 (BEL), when (for example) Italian people payed only €34,99. Doesn't make any sense to me.

I've contacted support about Belgium, but they didn't reply yet. Maybe you should ask them about the Netherlands and Germany aswell?

Anyway, you have more than plenty the time to preorder, so they'll probably have it fixed before release, don't panic! :D

Steam divides Europe into two tiers.

Tier 1 consists of the "filthy rich" countries like Germany, Belgium, France, Netherlands, Sweden, Austria, Denmark, Finland etc.

Tier 2 consists of the "3rd world" countries where people live in shelters like Italy, Spain, Czech Republic, Norway, Portugal etc.

Steam has cheaper prices for Tier 2.

The value of the euro is the same in whole europe. But the prices are different. You pay more for food and goods in some countries than in others.

As Belgium is about to be thrown into civil war, I demand less money!

I really don't think tiers are set by GDP per capita. It probably has to do something with the support or something.

I am pretty sure Norway is the richest country in the world.

Actually, knowing that I'm in a "tier 2" country (Italy) worries me a little... :(

Reminds me of the 19th Century... almost EVERYTHING was divided into classes.
Now they call it tiers... Welcome to 21st Century... ;)

No, I don't. But I do know we have to pay almost double the taxes to support southern-Belgium. That and having trouble with the government, "illegal people", constant strikes, ...

Daa xD

Wait, Norway is in Tier 2?

Norway in euro tier?

These tiers doesn't make any sense at all. They are just plain price discrimantion.

The reason why prices are diffrent between countries is because game stores had to include any additional costs (such as rents, taxes, wages) to the final price. In norway taxes and wages are bigger than in Italy and thus Norwegian game store HAS to sell games with higher price tag. In steam, these additional costs are constant and they doesn't vary because of downloading place (server rents are almost the same all across the globe). There is no other reason than "€_€" in price tiers.

BTW, anyone in this golden mercedes tier should take a look to the online stores in tier2 or in UK. It's very likely that physical copy from online retail is a lot more cheaper than any of steam deals, even when shipping and steam discount are being included.

Solution: Move to America. We have Democracy! And stupid people and sue-happy people and a president not doing too good a job... but it's democracy (you might have democracy too, but... we did it first?)! And video games that don't censor violence! And good prices on steam stuff! Ya...

Or England. They have good prices on stuff too.

But do you know that belgium is the only country in the world where there's a wellfare index that dictates that salaries must rise in function of market prices based on oil price ? If oil gets more expensive , so even the disability fees will rise :)

So even with no government we are not poor yet :)
