9.1 KB/s download speed yay!

Funny story. Yesterday I made sure I had the game fully downloaded, patched, and ready to go for the open beta today. I downloaded around 7.8GB at 1MB/s, maxing out my connection. Today I launch the Rift beta client and look at that, now there's a new patch and my speed is 9.1KB/s.

Let's all hope they upgrade their servers in time for the launch of the game or this will be a pain every time a patch is released.

For those curious, my speed is now 6.2KB/s after typing this post.

I must of had the luck of the draw, I was DL'ing at over 2mb/s.

I maxed my speeds every time. Never had an issue.

If you don't like it, there's always WoW.... The download speed for that is pretty good, especially when there's patches. But downloading the game from disc/online can be a ♥♥♥♥♥.

When the full game comes out, you're most likely gonna be going at your normal speed. Use wifi connections / hotspots - they'll provide about 2MB/S. ^_^

I typically download patches and whatnot for Rift at about 4.2mbps, so, their download servers remind me of Steam, which I like.

As with all betas and games that are newly released, their servers get slammed and everyone suffers.

If anybody played Aion when it first came out you can remember the 2kb/s threads on those forums :)

I'm an aussie, so I expect the worst speeds. AoC is a usual 50-300KB/s, WoW is 500KB/s and quite good, but Rift... I'm amazed and pretty happy the patches download @ 800KB/s +, but 6KB/s is no good emuzombie :( I hope it's fixed soon.

All this talk about 2-4MB/S makes me very sad, I guess that's why I cry into and hold my hug pillow every night.

Well i been maxing my 100mb connection when downloading all patches since beta5, so no complaints here.

Now if only steam had this kind of capacity ...... .. hint hint..
