Monkey Island 2 SE acid pit glich- unable to finish the game

I can't finish the game. At the point where I'm hanging above the acid pit I died once and after short cutscene my cursor is gone. I can't do anything. I have my crusor back in menu but it's gone ingame. I don't have any game saved before that happened.

I'm having the same problem and hope someone can help, even if just with a save file that works. I don't want to have to start all over!

I have the same problem, and this problem is also mentioned in at least 2 other threads so far. Have not seen a solution yet. I think one person mentioned talking to Steam and they said it was a Lucas Arts game problem.
