"Cannot assemble D3D9 high-level shader ApoxFxVs. Please make sure that you have the latest version of DirectX -AND- the latest drivers for your video card."

This machine is new, with the Windows7 drivers all fresh and pretty. Nvidia GTX 460 with most recent drivers (double-checked today) and DirectX setup re-run (so, according to what I've read in other threads, it should load DirectX 9.0c). I deleted the settings.txt as suggested in one. No change. Rebooted. No joy. I launched from the EXE instead of Steam. No luck. Verified install at 100%.

I'm hoping there's a magic bullet that I've missed so far.

Hey Habap,
Just to be absolutely sure
1) Where did you run the DirectX setup from? The Microsoft site for DirectX? I ask because in case you ran it from some other application's setup, it might be insufficient because many applications distribute a "stripped down" version of DirectX. In this case we suggest you run
"steamapps\common\apox\GameClient\dxwebsetup.exe" which ensures a full update to 9.0c
2) Can you share your playername in APOX? I trust you submitted your crash report; if we know your name, makes it easier for us to find your report.
Thank you for your patience.

Ash, I did try the dxwebsetup in the GameClient directory in hopes that it would work, but get the same message as the MS downloaded version: "DirectX setup has determined that a newer or equivalent version of DirectX has been installed already. No installation necessary." This morning, I tried to use the 9.0c redistributable from MS http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=402111c4-6478-46c1-bbd9-1bf9fcce52f4 but still had no luck (though it appeared to do something when I ran the dxsetup.exe) So, still not sure.

My Steam username is also habap, but this is my initial install, so I've not yet had an APOX playername. I've clicked OK to submit the crash reports, so they might be there....

Thanks!

Unfortunately we haven't been able to isolate your crash report (since the username hasn't been created yet) and AFAIK this is the first time this problem hasn't been fixed with a DirectX+Driver update.
Could you please do the following
1) Goto %appdata%/APOX/ and grab the log.txt and Ogre.log files
2) Get a DxDiag dump (Run DxDiag.exe from Start>Run and press the "Save All Info" button to get a .txt file)
Zip all three files up and send to
ashwins [AT] animotostudios [DoT] net

Sorry for the inconvenience, but this way we'll be able to help you fastest.
