I haven't played the beta, so I wouldn't know. But I've had a look at the Steam store screenshots and been on this forum a lot. From what I hear, this game (in my mental image library), is similar to the following:

Divinity II
Guild Wars
Risen
Elder Scrolls

No, I'm not gonna cry about it being a WoW ripoff (I know it isn't) I'm not mentioning these in a bad way (I like them all), so don't think I'm saying Rift's a ripoff of them.

But, in your opinion: what is the game like, and will most MMO gamers enjoy it? Thanks for your answers ^_^

Divinity II, Risen, and Elder Scrolls are single-player, open-world RPGs.
Guild Wars is an online, multiplayer RPG with instanced content (not an MMO, IMO).

So taking those games, I guess you could say it's got the open-world feel of the first three, with the online, multiplayer presence of GW. The only instanced areas are dungeons and warfronts, everything else is persistent, open-world.

The game is in open beta right now, so now would be the time to try it out. Otherwise, you'll have to wait until they release a free trial, which they have said will come later, but won't be available at launch, like most, if not all MMOs.
