View Full Version : How active is this game?
I bought this game recently and have been enjoying it quite a bit. I do have a question however; namely how active is the HLDS community? I haven't seen many servers but the few that are there are pretty active. I have the feeling this game is kind of a cult classic or something. If someone could answer this question I thank them.
It has its "niche",the game is like hl2mp but much faster gameplay, there are 8-15 servers running for this game, about 8 dedicated, the rest listen servers ,there never was several hundred servers like hl2mp.and most players are farily regular.everbody has their favorite server depending are where they are at on the globe.

Old HLDM was great, still is if you don't have a computer that can handle HLDM:S. HLDM:S is a lot tougher. You have to lead your opponents, unlike HLDM where you just aim at the target. I love the graphics of HLDM:S. It's hard for me to play the old HLDM because it's so pixilized.
Both games are fast paced. If your up for the challenge though, HLDM:S is the future of Half-Life Deathmatch.
Thanks for the replies guys...I suppose i'll start playing a lot when I can spare the time.

I agree with what X-15 said. HLDM is much more "polished" than HLDM: S, as HLDM: S is full of bugs, but HLDM: S certainly has a lot more potential, and once you get used to the bugs, I much prefer it :).

You mean Deathmatch Classic? I may get that too. Either way it's nice to have a good niche game with a tight community!

well if you do that then i dont think u get a good chance to win a 1 game from live players not botssssssssss.

I've tangoed with bots in Team Fortress 2 many times; I think I can handle bots from a 10-year-old deathmatch game.

No, that's a completely different game. I mean Half-Life 1 Deathmatch (as in not Source). I completely agree on the community thing!

I must have confused that with the multiplayer included in the original Half-Life, then. It happens to the best of us.

It's a common mistake :). To clarify for others, HLDM is just the multiplayer mode of Half-Life 1, while Deathmatch Classic (DMC) is a totally separate game.

Good to know. I hope this thread helps other people with their questions.
