Question about maintenance

Hi, does anyone know how the maintenance work? Besides paying for maintaining things that is... ;)

Sometimes the maintenance magically drops from thousands to hundreds for me (it just happened now to my two fleets, 15.000 and 9.000 strength respectively) other times it goes up, much higher than the income with a fleet below 15.000...

So either the upkeep is bugged or it has something to do with planets.

It also concerns me that there is no info about the upkeep rates.

Any clues?

Maintenance is based on two things, the total cost of all of your ships, and the campaign difficulty level.
It should be a fixed percentage of the fleet cost, for each fleet. It will only vary based on the number of ships in the fleet, so if you lose a bunch of fighters from each squadron, it will change then.
