My buddy and I are considering the game. Any PvPs know if the warriors are viable for solo PvP?
IMO they are gimped for PvP in most MMOs(that I've played). I heard they actually became a little OP in WoW for a minute however, I was long gone by then.
Sorry, I know next to nothing about rift and my buddy and I are thinking of rolling swordnboards if we get rift.
Thanks for your time.;)

I played a human Warrior in WoW roleplay, and he sucked. I imagine warriors being good (what with the different kinds) in PvP on Rift though.
Try roleplay/PvE then see if it's any good for PvP (in my opinion, this'd be best). ^_^

jeez, a comparison to wow wont help you , at all, one iota for this game. warriors are totally different and can be all kinds of different types including a pet class.
and, btw, if you think wars 'sucked' in wow then you fail. but who cares cos this isnt wow
the warriors ive seen are good against most classes, depending on their style, have trouble against healing type clerics. some have a nasty spammable ranged dd/dot called flamespear which is considered fotm right now.
there are too many combinations between souls to just lump an archetype into 'good' or 'not good' so youll have to be more specific

Like Roost said, there are so many variations that you can't really go with good or bad. I've found that a heavy reaver build was good for survivability but not so much for damage, heavy champion was good damage but you have to be in > kill > out unless you have a dedi healer backing you.
I've not tried pvp alot as warrior yet but it seems that, right now, you can be successful with various builds. It just depends on your playstyle and how well you can adapt to the various situations you will find yourself in.
Also, as Roost again mentioned. Flame Spear spam is being used quite often. It is a Riftblade ability and does incredible damage, turning the warrior in to a kiting playstyle. Not something I personally would enjoy playing, as 2-3 button classes is one of the reasons I left WoW, but it appears to be effective in a lot of situations.

BTT, regardless of any other games that might or might not have a class called "warrior", the ones in Rift are okay for solo pvp. In particular, the warrior class has the only dedicated anti-caster soul (void knight); there is another soul for ranged combat (riftblade); there is a tank soul that can heal yourself (reaver). You are really not locked into what you'd think a warrior is if you played one in certain other games and therefore you won't have the same limitations.
