Tokugawa or Takeda, both sound badass.

I'm also thinking Shimazu, excellent island start, and those Katana Samurai heroes look mighty fine to me.
Date also looks interesting, nice on the edge of Japan starting position, coupled with that charge bonus and those interesting custom samurai, they make a fine secondary choice.

I absolutely love archers, so I might have my first run as the Chosokabe - plus they start on that nice little island, in theory allowing you to build up a nice solid base before plundering the main island.
Although, having just looked at the map your choice of Shimazu is pretty solid! Start off at the bottom, then spread up like the plague. Those strong samurai could come in handy too - an iron back bone for the army.

Shimazu, because I likes my Katana/melee soldiers a lot
that and the starting positions looks to be very favourable and I believe is close to the trade nodes, naval invasions will of course be a concern, but I find that a more favourable position than being on the main island so to speak and surrounded
also think it would be good to ally with someone like the Mori, with their higher naval prowess
Im going for Uesugi :) trading bonus and superior warrior monks lol

those warrior monks look beastly, want to try them in the demo, need cotton to build high enough though :(

a nearly all-out ashigaru army sounds hard to use, I'll have to give Oda a shot.

Uesugi! (Only because it was my favorite clan in the first Shogun Total War game.)

yea i think that those samurai are similar as line infantry in etw/ntw if it comes to purposes.
if so then it would be far from wrong if some1 would go with this clan.

Oda, as anyone who knows anything about Japanese history outside of that film and games will know that Oda Nobunaga was a ♥♥♥♥ing beast.
As the famous saying goes;
Oda Nobunaga - If the bird does not sing, kill it.
Toyotomi Hideyoshi - If the bird does not sing, coax it.
Tokugawa Ieyasu - If the bird does not sing, wait for it to sing.

Well, strong case 2 play them there (got quite tempted, prolly on second campaign) As it happens to coincide with how i do things
If you could find examples of diffrent daimyjos, Prefrably from the the other playable clans, that would be great. And pref mention their respective clans.

Better and cheaper Ashigaru units means more armies, I might play Oda first.
Takeda also seem good, better and cheaper cavalry is hard to argue against.

Hi, I'm a Takeda fan, definitely trying Takeda Clan first.
Takeda Shingen is the most fascinating general imo. Good at war, good at domestic, good at espionage, but bad luck. He is the only general who had won a (decisive victory) over Tokugawa in the battlefield. The only time Tokugawa didn't turtle up and he was totally owned by Shingen.
Unlike other clans, Takeda Clan is surrounded by superpower so this should make the campaign very warmongering and challenging.
Uesugi not as good as a clan but its leader is the most legendary character in Sengoku time, so it's worth playing 2nd.
The only clan i won't use is Tokugawa because I don't feel like skipping turns and turtle up and wait till every one is dead :D

1 problem, you can only have a certain amount of units. So if your army is all decked out with ashigaru and the enemies army is decked out with samurai... whats the term... up s***s creek without a paddle? XP
Also im going for takeda first.

Well there is no limit to the stacks is there? So the cogs will eventually clog up when you have 1 stack of samurai vs 4 ashigaru :P
Anyway I am of course going with historical accuracy first and playing as the Tokugawa, they should provide a good test for the diplomacy system. After that I'm off to bust some skulls with the Nobunaga to fully test the campaign and battle AI and after that rewriting history with the Takeda, this of course to test myself :D

pretty sure my ashigaru army will beat the AI's samurai even on VH :D
and even if they win, ill deal damage and my next stack will be waiting.

the AI is actually looking dam impressive when it isn't scripted tbh (modders working wonders with the demo ha)
I'll go for combo armies, since they are always better than just spamming armies with no variety or composite of units
think im going to chance my choise from shimazu to Dante.
i took over the island now and rule/hold it with a iron fist.
but i just don't feel connected at all with the rest of the map.
im just sitting here being undiscovered by every1, and just smoking a pipe really..

lol
I went with takeda and am kicking a**! Just launched a massive crusade with 4 armies to take the 'barney the dinosaur' clan which are centered around kyoto. So now i surround Kyoto, the only thing slowing the crusade is my inability to move on from newly captured settlement because of 'resistance to invaders'. As soon as Kyoto starts pi**ing its pants and calls clans to attack me I will destroy the capital and proclaim myself shogunate! The only problem is I havent captured Echigo (one of the victory condition provinces) next problem ehchigo is owned by useigei... im their military ally, last problem I married my daughter to a useigei family member >.< wont look good when I have to take echigo and basically declare war on the entire western side of japan.
