I admit, I didn't expect the pc version to look that good compared to the console versions. As a PS3 owner as well, I feel sorry for the people buying it for that only. Missing sun shafts, one of the newest features of UE3? Yeesh. You also get a lower frame rate and paired back effects. Notice both console version are locked to 30FPS and have no anti-aliasing applied.

The higher framerate is beneficial, since the input lag is reduced and the game feels and looks faster paced. Though we PC users do get our bugs, issues and the horrid texture streaming problem at least we get the most visually impressive version. ;)

Indeed. UE3 always scales well on PC, at least compared to consoles.

The one thing people tend to over look when thinkink about frame rates is the enherant game engine input lag. It takes a set number of frames before your actions begin to take effect on screen, between 3-5 frames, sometimes longer. Running at 60 FPS effectively halves the time taken for each new reame to display, and also halves any inherant engine input lag.

I didn't realise DF had put the article up already, thanks for pointing it out. I must admit, I do like DF's face-off's and tech comparisons. Eurogamer's reviews are pretty solid for the most part too.
