For the record i own more than 250 games on steam. I'm no pirate of any sort. But right now i'm thinking of pirating Risen 2. Why?
Well activating Risen on the same machine as many times as you want is simply not true. For many reasons i had to reformat my hd more than three times and as a consequence reactivating Risen (on the SAME pc) in the process. Guess what happened...a message saying that i have exceeded activation limit. And now i cant play the damn game.
I have tried to contact Deep silver and tages with no answer yet.
So i've been left with two options. Re purchase the game (physical copy this time) or download a pirate copy.Nice very nice.
My friends laugh at my face because they got risen for 8 pounds(9€) with no activation limits.

I dont get it?
You can only load Risen 'X' amount of times?...is that a bug or part of the game?

It's part of the TAGES DRM protection Risen has.
Super Fun

Yeah DRM is nothing but trouble for legit users. Oh and I didn't even know Risen 2 was in the making, that's awesome.

Check my thread on the tages activations, they regenerate. And why boycott Risen 2? No one said it's gonna use Tages.

They regenerate? I read somewhere in here that there's no OFFICIAL statement on the matter.
Given the Risen 1 DRM method i assume Risen 2 will use the same?

And why should Risen 2 use the same digital restrictions management? It's another game, it's another time, there are totally different means of achieving the same (e.g. Steam). When Risen was released, Tages and similar were the only means avaible. BTW, if you wanted an official statement, why didn't you just ask the Tages or game publisher support? I got my answer from them, this is as official as it can get.

Ok...see you in 45!!! days then. This is a joke.
As for Risen being tied with tages. Others have done it too. Just release a patch and remove the damn thing. They just don't want to.

Yeah i know lucky me. Smart move i bought myself a pair of nice ssd's so re-installing windows isnt much of a hussle.
Oh and i blame Alien Breed Series partly.
For some reason i couldn't start any of them. Someone suggested that i should run a clean install of win7. At leastin my case i discovered that Risen And Alien Breed can't coexist because both are using different versions of Microsoft Visual C++ 2005. Each program must run with its own version of Visual c++ 2005.

Finally a happy ending. Got an answer from Koch Media Suppport
"Dear Customer, Thank you for your enquiry. We've raised your activation limit. You have now three more activations atyour disposal."
There! although i would prefer they remove tages completely for every steam user , 3 activations again is something.

Then you're doing something wrong.
There are some reasons to use cracks with some games. Games such as this.
Then you're doing something wrong.
Yeah, the same thing popped into my head as well.

DRM can be awesome sometimes. I downloaded a DEMO from the games official website. I tried to launch the game but DRM didn't let me. The game itself didn't even have drm so I doubt the demo had it. DRM installed with some other game prevented me from playing the demo. Crazy...

Unless it was risen, it's kinda OT.

Thanks for letting us know about the activation nonsense. This is now the 4th game during this sale I haven't purchased thanks to ridiculous drm. AA, Two Worlds Two, Spectromancer, and now Risen.
Bummer, this game looks really good and I need a new rpg :(
