Well...in one of the new screenshots released yesterday I saw this...

http://media.pcgamer.com/files/2011/03/Portal-2-screenshots-071.jpg

Any opinions on this?

Im not sure there's much of a discussion to be had about this. It's a sign advertising the company. Something that any company would do at what i'm assuming is a main entrance to the facility.

But would they use another logo and name than the ones they use on just about every product they make?

That sign is a bit odd if you think about it. Aperture didn't get into research and the like until after 1975 (1979 acording to the notes). Before that is was "Mostly Shower Curtains". So why is there a test facility from the 1960's if not older? sm

maybe this was the old facilities, then when they they switched to aperture science laboratories they built a new facility.

I made this to point out some stuff that may not be immediately noticable:

Every company will have a logo update at some point. Aperture Science is no exception. They probably just updated it one day to the current, sleek look of todays version. I'm guessing the area Chell is, is a disused section of the facitlity. Or maybe it's the Borealis... Probably a stupid thought, but you never know.

(Possible spoiler)

Most probably the "other" abandoned place Chell finds herself in. You know, the one the mentioned in the Gamespot hands-on preview.

They said that was a warehouse with corrugated iron walls (http://mayang.com/textures/Architectural/images/Roofing/corrugated_iron_roof_160260.JPG). This looks nothing like a warehouse, and the walls don't look like iron.

I just thought that, that elevator could bring you to and old 1920's warehouse version of GLaDOS

Looks like a warehouse/factory to me, according to the metal supports on the top. Maybe it's just the name of their R&D department or something?

That room gives me a feeling of deja vu.

Like when I was younger I have been in a place similar.

It has alot of ambiance. It is a room that I can sense it has a smell, musty with a hint of rust. Never really had sense of a smell in a videogame. Pretty awesome!

They are just simple projected textures that have been in source for quite a while.

No, they added a new, insanely amazing dynamic lighting/shadowing system to Portal 2. Watch the Portal 2 intro. Even the people playing are like "the lighting is insane".

Edit: NO! The Wheatley Update shows it a lot better.

Dang those catwalk stealing thugs have struck again!

Part of me thinks we take it down. And that sign is what greets us.

The Gamestop preview doesn't say anything about the corrugated iron until the "test chambers" though. I am guessing that is the entrance to the warehouse or something of that sort.
