For people who ordered from D2D...they now have a 7.58GB install file ready to download. Unfortunately they won't release activation keys until the 15th. Hopefully this install file will link right up to Steam on release day.

It wont. Its not a steamworks game.
Theres some money to save, but is it worth it when you dont get them on steam? I dont know.

Actually Homefront is a Steamworks title. http://www.videogamer.com/news/pc_homefront_to_be_steamworks_title.html
Or feel free to look at the sticky on this forum. It also confirms that Homefront is a Steamworks title.

"This product is not eligible for refunds and requires a 3rd party download to play." (http://www.direct2drive.com/2/10075/product/Buy-Homefront-Download?hph)
Yep, it'll require Steam to activate and play.

When you pre-load it, is the pre-load through steam as well or are you downloading it from D2D. Is it best just to wait til you get the key and use Steam to download the files?

You download it from d2d. I assume it installs into your steam directory. Can someone confirm?

that would be it, i believe Homefront is not slated for release in europe until the 18th. not surprising most games are like that. different release dates for different markets

Hmm... Then you actually pay a little more on steam to play it earlier :P

Happy to report that when you go to install this a steam pop up comes up asking for a activation code. I'm glad this install file interfaces with steam so easily and I won't be battling download servers on launch day.

I really hope we get a pre-load for Steam as well.
My connection sucks pretty bad and it will probably take many hours downloading it.

From the posts I have seen, People in Europe have been saying it says 18th on the official site, but on steam it says 15th.
It isn't the first time European steam users have gotten it early compared to consoles and other web services.
