So as the title says, Q1 almost done.

Any news about a release date?

no doubt they will give vague answers until about april then announce they are delaying it instead of telling people straight and treating hem like fools.

there is 0 benefit to having no release date

I doubt a Q1 date will be reached as they said they still needed to test it with Valve crew awhile back. I would think a May release is more likely.

My bet is Q3, or late Q2.

The benefit to no truly announced release date is so that a developer doesn't have to shove something out the door incomplete, and as an independent developer making a quality title their first retail and digital distribution title is first and foremost. Would you rather have an unfinished, low quality, crappy build of the game in which no one will want to play? Or would you rather have a high quality, beautiful, finished, wonderful copy of the game in which you and others can't put down? Because personally I think the larger community would be better...not the one who dwindles because first release wasn't "pristine".

agreed. and we already know they have removed vehicles to try and speed it up.

Also; Valve didn't exactly release specific release dates for HL2 until probably a couple of weeks (if that) before it shipped last I checked...it's still one of the #1 selling games worldwide...not only was there no true release date for 4 or 5 years, it also got pushed back almost a whole year before it was released!

no offense but IW aren't riding on the success of a previous smash hit game. most people arent gonna be waiting on the edge of their seats for this, most dont even know about it

at the time of half life 2 they were well respected and had TFC, CS, HL, DOD and a few other games already done

That may be; but it still doesn't mean that no definitive release date is a bad thing for a small independent. It means they don't have to adhere to as strict deadlines and thus burning out the staff and in the process creating an inferior product...

lets not lie about it tho, all we want is a bit of ND and the sooner the better as far as i'm concerned :D

Agreed, after the several delays for Smash Brothers Brawl the game was epic and in contrast to the rush job that is CoD Black Ops I have no problem with waiting.

what about a beta for us forumers :D

Though seriously, if they released a small beta, as I said, to those of us keeping track of it, could that speed it up? It would allow glitches and errors to be found faster than Valve and IW testing it them selves, and we would have a different mind set to add to any critisism.

But if this beta is TOO incomplete it can also drive these people away as well; and little to no work will get done...also if it's pre-order beta it should be MORE complete as these people have PAID for the product...if it's not at least DECENT quality then it may not be very good business... Personal example involving myself: Hated LOTRO when it was early betas; couldn't keep playing it, it was absolutely aweful to me; now, free + years later, I can't stop playing the game...and find it to be fantastic... main reason; level of incompleteness...it honestly just felt like WoW with LOTRO skins slapped on top; it's managed to do much better for me this time around.

yea, I agree with you. I just think a beta could speed it up if some outsiders with different opinions took a look at it. I agree it would do harm to release a halve-finished beta, just when the time comes for a beta...

Really is too bad when people see betas as demos...

It also is too bad when people see demos and betas as representative of a complete game, when they are in most cases very obviously not.

My biggest concern for this game is it turns out like shattered horizon. Great game, but small community to the point of where its practically dead the whole time. Here's to hoping when they get closer to an actual release form of the game they will advertise more.

Really too bad when people don't read anything but the first word of a post and then retort against it. I know what a beta and a demo is dude, read the post actually. I was saying that a beta with people could possibly speed it up since glitches and the like could be found faster, or just be found period from people who have an alternate look at the game from the producers.

I wasn't saying you were wrong or that you didn't know the difference, I just meant that some people who can't tell the difference could hurt pre-release buzz. I guess I should have edited out your first sentence as I was agreeing with the second part of your statement.
