If you don't have a cross over save there are three preset backgrounds you can choose from.

As long as you have the save files it doesn't matter where the game is bought from.

Okay... I know there are crossover files, but I don't really want to do that so I was wondering if it would be alright to order from Amazon instead.

A save file is a save file. It absolutely doesn't matter whether the version is retail or from Steam.
