I hate the Vietnam DLC, and in this thread I will explain why.

The hit detection: Why does it feel infinitely more responsive in the DLC than in vanilla? Did DICE finally figure out how to do it? Good lord I hope so, because BF3 is right around the corner. Why is the improved hit detection not implemented in to BFBC2? Is it because the maps in Vietnam are less erratic, requiring less bandwidth to keep up with destruction?

The time period: Vietnam has been done and done and done just like WW2 has been done and done and done. Who cares. I would have preferred some content update that applies to the main game.

The Asian Sniper: Does every vietnamese marksman have only 1 eye? Really?

The MW2 Illusion: A lot of people think this is a meatgrinder like MW2. SPAWN SPRINT DIE SPAWN SPRINT SHOOT DIE SPAWN SPRINT DOLPHIN DIVE SHOOT DIE. This is not the case. With the reduced mobility and increased bullet damage, this is a jarate poor attempt at a real time Worms game. My dog is chewing on a beef bone.

TL:DR The expansion is not bad, but is it really necessary?

Sorry you don't like it but I think it's well worth $15 and as PC Gamer said it's "the way DLC should be done." They took a year to improve the game, improve hit detection, create 4 good maps and develop a new set of vehicles and weapons for the game. It's great fun and I'm sure after BF3 is released they will continue to make additional content for the Frostbite 2 engine.

Also about the time period I couldn't disagree more. World War 2 was overdone 6 years ago when the Battlefield 1942, the Medal of Honor, and the COD games were released. Since then almost every fps made has been set in the modern era. Vietnam has never been overdone by the industry and I'm ready to go back to WW2. Hopefully Dice makes a new, epic WW2 game after they release BF3.

It's not bad quality, but I don't like it very much. More spammy than vanilla, smaller maps, meh.

I still prefer vanilla BC2, great game.

NO NO NO NO NO No more WW2. Please for the love of god no more WW2. Give me WW3 already.

Even though I don't personally like it, I still agree that it was worth 15 dollars compared to a map pack or some skins. It is how DLC should be done, a large content update. I just wish they would have done something that applied to the main game.

It's badly balanced and that's the main problem with it. It followed the MoH/MW2 model of high damage low recoil guns that require no skill to use and, honestly, all the rush maps were horrible bottlenecks that were almost impossible to win for the assaulting team.
