Portal 2 became available for preloading, so I started the download, and somehow, it opened Portal 2 Hammer, which contained something resembling a RuneScape Dungeoneering level, but with realtime ray tracing, HDR, and a HL2 pistol.

Can anyone explain my dream to me? Is Portal 2's level editor going to have better graphics than the game itself?

I don't think you can see the future in your dreams and I doubt that the level editor will be any different than the one we have now.

You realize source has had HDR since Lost Coast, right?

Also, Valve said they are working on making a less-headached inducing level editor, but its unknown if it will be available for Portal 2 or not until later.

Gabe Newell confirmed that they were redesigning the tools, so if anything, the next version of the SDK will be WAY different than the one we have now.

He never said anything about an ETA though. We have no idea when well be seeing it.

You realize source has had HDR since Lost Coast, right?

Yeah, but this was Alien Swarm-style HDR in Hammer.

I hope they will update hammer, making a simple payload map in TF2 is near-impossible now.

I really hope they change the tools. Source SDK is so outdated and hard, it's the main criticism point of Source.
