I mean, honestly. The amount of people that have basically wasted $100 or more on accounts with games on them get screwed over if they get banned for no reason. The same has happened to me, and thanks to this horrible, horrible banning system I can't play any of my multi-player games, and I have 42 games, 20 of them are multi-player only.. Thanks, VALVe. I used to like you, but now you have just stolen my money.

VAC has never banned any account "for no reason".
There is always a reason, even on the very rare occasion that they have been reversed, it was because of an error in Steam itself or a virus that was designed to target a specific group of users.
Other than that, account security is the owners responsibility.

I just hope i don't get flamed..

Honestly, I have been banned for no reason. I dunno if I was hacked, or anything, but now I can't enjoy games that I've been playing for years thanks to this.

Too bad.
Btw, just because they're multiplayer games doesn't mean you can no longer play them. VAC only affects a few. Plus if they are affected, unless it's MW2 or Black Ops, you can play on Non-VAC servers.

But on TF2, all the non-VAC servers are empty, and even the ones that have people on them are password locked, so it's unplayable.

Well, VAC detected something or the account would not have been banned.

I've contacted support, they still have yet to reply, so I'm waiting for them. I just hope that all this gets over with soon.

Actually, it used to be temporary bans (five years i think confirm?) but people would just start cheating again after it was lifted so they switched to zero-tolerance.
